Texas Tree ID - Please

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello Texans!!!

I live in the Hill Country region - good old Fredericksburg - and I have a tree that is on our property that I need help to ID. It is all over the family property which is about 150 acres - so I belive it is native. It has pretty pinkish white flowers in the spring that smell heavenly. It also has some type of nut/seed during fall - I believe that is when they are produced. Here are several pictures and any info would be wonderful!! Thank you for your time and help!!

& the question is, what you want to swap for a small one!!!
Redbud, Golden Rain Tree, Jap Maple???
:~)

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

My husband and I will see if we can find a small one. We should be able to - I guess we need to go for a walk! ; ) Give me a couple of days, but I will get back to you. We are going to be close to a freeze tonight and then we will freeze tomorrow night - so we have a lot we need to get done and covered before. Is the Jap. Maple the one that is red all the time? Just drop me a d-mail! ; )

By all means, covering is way more important. No rush!
Are ya'll coming to CSRU?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Smockette, Josephine had one at the RU today. Did you get it?

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Yes, I did but I would like another one, if that isn't too greedy. I have other trees to swap her.

I am sorry this is probably a dumb question, but can someone tell me what CSRU and RU stand for. I am sorry my brain is not working I guess! I will blame it on being new here!! I know as soon as someone tells me I will probably kick myself! LOL

Thanks Dana

Dana, RU stands for Round Up, and CSRU is College Station Round Up.

Thank you frostweed - you seem to always come to the rescue!! ; ) Now another question - is the RU & CSRU done online or in person? Thank you again for all you help and all your IDS!!!

Thanks,
Dana

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

RU can be held any where, in person.
CSRU is held in the College Station/Bryan area. It was held at different parks in CS, thus the name of the 'Central Tx RU' became CSRU.
Headcount, Food List, & prior Trades are done online but you show up in person & meet gardeners that you may have been talking to for a long time. Some trades take place @ the park.
Hope this helps!

Yes, we trade on line, but we meet and deliver plants in person, if you read the first post on each of the RU threads you will get an idea of how it is handled.

Pretend you are going to a big party of you and your best friends and everyone is bringing gifts and party food and foolishness. That's an RU. No one is required to bring anything; they just do. People find out that some of their friends have some plants, dodads and whatchamacallits that they would like to exchange for yours if you have any. No money changes hands. If you have nothing, not to worry: you will go home w/lots of plants, etc. and be well fed in the process. But, you will probably have something to exchange for something else. There are always door prizes. Go buy a bag of potting soil or mulch or some garden gloves to put in the kitty for door prizes. The whole thing is intended as social: meeting new people w/whom you have been conversing via DG and know but now you can put a face to the name. The fact that everyone going is a gardener or would be gardener or the relative of a gardener gives everyone something in common. You don't dress up. It's kind of come as you are and comfortable clothes are a must plus maybe a hat and sunglasses. Afterall, you're going to see some friends in a garden.

Smockette

We covered everywhere there is a buckeye and no little ones. The freeze did a lot of damage! There are some little ones coming up from the base of the tree, but they are all in the main rootball. Thanks to the freeze all we have is a bunch of little sticks all the leaves are gone, so it makes it hard to identify. I am sorry we could not help you!
