I need some advice on what to do.. I hung a bird house that Ive had for about 15 yrs and finally something nested in for the first time .... chickadees!!! I was so excited! its a cowboy boot birdhouse and after all the years Ive had it it finally took a texas bird to appeciate it..
the problem is my dog Grace. she has discoverd birds!!! Grace is very hyper, site and motion orenitationed and protects the yard from anything that moves. Shes better know as" Wild Child" so need I say more??? The activity of feeding the babies and the parents calling back and forth focuses her attention on the bird house... Im wondering if I can move the birdhouse??? Im afraid when the babies fledge, which will be soon, she will hurt them . I have a tree about 12 ft away on the OTHER side of the fence where she cant get to that I can move it to. I can keep it facing the direction it is and at the same level. The parents often sit in the tree before they fly to the top of the hanger that holds the bird house. What do you all think???.. when I hung it I never dreamed something like this would happen.. IIll be sure to add this to the already LONG list of what not to do because of Grace..
any recomindations folks??
nesting problem ... babies in danger
I'd try moving it and see if the parents adapt. If not, you can move it back and deal with the dog.
