I meant to ask this question last fall, but forgot so ....
I bought some big beautiful caladiums last year from one of our co-ops. I was very pleased with them. The bulbs had all been planted in pots according to the recommended amount. When I dug the bulbs up to over winter in the basement, 2 varieties had multiplied like crazy at the expense of the big bulbs. So instead of 5 big bulbs in my pot I now had 20+ babies, the large bulb no longer large.
The 2 types were White Christmas and Red Flash. Anyone else have this happen to them? How do I stop this from happening. Since I have to over winter the bulbs, I don't want them to multiply I just want the individual bulbs to get big and healthy.
Thanks
Caladium Question
I am not remotely a caladium expert, I just grow them every year (and have to let them die - sadly, I have no space to let them overwinter), but if you got them at a co-op here on DG, I'm guessing you could contact that vendor to ask your question.
IF it was caladiumbulbs4less.com, biLL is very responsive and helpful, so write to him directly, or post your question over on the co-op forum, under the CHAT-shitzumom & bill caladium co-op thread (I think that's its name!)
Good luck!
Barb
