I'm watching a pair of Red-tailed Hawks that have a nest just East of my house. They are very wary, won't let me approach for pics. The mom just swoops into the nest and goes out of sight. I'm hoping when the chicks hatch I can get some better photos. But there will be leaves in the way then. Anyway, I'll try to chronicle their progress. Shot this one with a burst and caught Mom flying in.
Red-tailed Hawk nest
Your very lucky dirt! Do be careful not to upset them too much. I can't wait to hear about the chicks!
Keep us posted!
Aww That is neat! Time to buy/borrow a big lens!
How lucky for you!! I'll be anxious to hear the updates!
Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not much activity this week. Mom is still in the nest incubating. She comes in quickly and just dives into the nest making pics difficult. I was sitting on the patio one evening this week and saw Dad flying toward the creek with a mouse. He lit in a tree about 40 yards from the nest and Mom came and took the mouse.
Be very careful RDR. You're going to become addicted. Great shot of Mum flying into the nest.
Nice!
Great picture of dad!!
Still not a lot of activity. I've been watching this nest for a month now. Eggs should be hatched. The female still spends most of her time in the nest, but can't bee seen. Weather has been cold and rainy, so suspect she is huddled over chicks. I saw the male coming off the hill carrying a small rabbit the other day.
Should be more activity as the chicks grow and both parents begin hunting to feed them.
Shot this one of Mom on top of the nest from my bedroom window.
Red, nice shots! That's so cool to have a nest nearby!
