How do I get autmatic virus defination updates?

A few weeks ago my Norton which i had bene runnign the 2006 version finalyl had expire d and got the 2009 . Before I had a litl pop up box that would come on and tel me that evrey so often norton would update the virus definitions withotu me doign anything.

Now sicne I got the 2009 I find t he program not doign it, and have trie d to look on the program to see if there a way to have it do it automatically, btu haven't foudn it yet. I have to keep connecting to Live somethign or other forget the whole name, to get them to update.

I real puter stupid , so if ya cna help and give me steps by step to look at and do woudl appreciate it.
