My grandaughters class will be incubating eggs that they will be getting form me,I need to know what to do,when I get the eggs from the coop do I keep them out of fridge and no cleaning them right?I`ll put them in a egg box, anything I need to know about placing them in the box?How long can I keep them before they should go in the incubator?I`m not sure yet how many they will want. And it takes 21 days from the time they are all put in the incubator to hatch right? And they can live for 2 days with no food and water right? I will be taking them after they hatch and put them in a brooder at my home.I know this is a lot of questions but the teacher said they have not had a hatch for a couple years and thought it was that the eggs they were getting was not fertilized because when they candled them there was nothing, she thought the rooster was no good.Hope mine work out ok for them.
incubating eggs for school projusct
Great going Green!!! The eggs are viable for seven days, after that the percentage goes down each day. I always lay the eggs on their side and just leave them at room temp, 65-75%. And your right on about everything else. Good luck, and I know the children will have a blast as well. Haystack
Remember to write the date they start incubating in pencil on the eggs so you will know when it's time to throw the losers out before they explode........

You're removing the fun part, Ginger. Think of the yuck-gross out factor in the playground. =0)
That.SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSmellllllllllllllllllllllll....
Uhhhg.
Ginger
Of course!! Major yuck factor... squeals, screams, running... could be the only exercise some of the kids get. And then a story for the rest of their life.
How could you deny them that?
LOL
Very well.. Green.. forget the pencil.. Get a bottle of Simple Green and keep it handy.
If it works for skunk smell it should work on THAT..
Ginger
It works for skunk smell!?
Yep.
I used to work with a friend at a wildlife rescue. Baby skunks always arrived with a big bottle of Simple Green. We've also used it sereval times on our no so brilliant dogs.
Ginger
Great!
Do you use it diluted or straight?
We diluted in bathtub for dogs.. put in garden sprayer for house dogs ran through and bed dogs rolled in.....threw in washer for bedding....
For skunks we just used slightly diluted to wash hands....
Ginger
