Hi beverlique,

I have a family of Pheasants coming to my garden, they now treat me like one of their own, lol, last year their young visited and this year I have had two young cocks practising their fighting. There have been other males visiting too but top cock beats them off! There was 3 females last year but one walked onto the road and got hit by a car, this year I have two mature females and three young. I had been feeding the birds peanuts in a silo, they love peanuts so I often throw them a few, one female runs up to me looking at the bag, she knows what is in there!

I buy kilo bags of wild bird seed from lidls as well as peanuts, it's cheap there, only about 77p and £1.20 for peanuts. I put a few little lots of it on the ground every day, other birds will eat it too of course. They will eat some bread too, don't worry about it being 'bad' for them as there will be plenty of birds coming for it and I found that birds will only eat a certain amount of any one food, they have a very varied diet and are not as stupid as people sometimes think they are.

If you get into taking pics of birds in your garden, and that is very easy to do once you start, lol, please join us on the Bird Watching forum where we have a Daily Pics thread.

Please do, it can be a lot of fun having friendly Pheasants in your garden! Last year I had my top cock eating bread from my hand.
