Media to use for plant tags

Not sure this is "art-related," although I could make it so ;-)

Does anyone have any thoughts about what to use to create plant tags for my plants? I want something to hang, as it's getting too difficult for me to get down to the ground and look. I'm not so worried about the wire vs. fabric to hang, but more the tag itself.

I was thinking that I could obtain some kind of aluminum sheets and have them cut into tag-size pieces, then use my Dremel to write out the name. I want something which lasts.

Ideas? Wisdom?
