I was just wondering if there is plant files beside African Violets in the Gessie family
Like on Streps ,columnea, Achimes
I got a Columnea called Malissa and it is only in straight perlite anybody no if I should keep it in there or should I plant in dirt
Is there Plant files
I don't know if there are any plant files, but i use the same mix on most of my gessies, including columnea & achimenes
bonnie
Thanks Bonnie That is one of the plants that I got at the show. So I have no idea if I should put it in dirt
i would.
bonnie
Your columnea certainly has a pretty flower on it.
Kim: I agree with Bonnie, I would remove it from the straight perlite and repot into the same light mix used for other Gesneriads.
There are 71 Columnea listed in the Plant Files database: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=columnea&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search
I had a lot of difficulty finding things in PF when I first joined DG, then someone told me, when I'm at Plant Files main page, to type the Genus name, if I know it, (Columnea, Streptocarpus, Kohleria, Achimines, etc.) in the Genus area, instead of typing in the common name, and that method works great for me!
That sure is a pretty one you've got there! Love the bloom!
Thanks Lyn and everyone else
Thanks for the search tip Lin!
