Hi all!
I haven't been around for a while for many reasons, but still check in occasionally. I have a question to throw out here to see if any of you have better ideas for me.
I have a 9 mo. old Lab mix puppy going thru her "teens". (rolling my eyes....) Raven's the sweetest thing, has basic behavoir training & decent manners (for her age), and she's not even as destructive as I know she could be (and as her sister is), but, I'm tired of losing my shoes to her. :((((
I need to find a way to make her *stop* chewing my shoes; I don't want to have to hide them the rest of my life. At the time, I keep my shoes up on the higher racks of my shoe rack, but occasionally she'll stand up to get one to chew on. If I leave my muck shoes by the door to dry, they're destroyed in short time - she destroyed the 3rd pair in a few weeks this morning. (Heavy rain the last few days)
She **always** has something to chew - rawhide bones, real bones, Kongs, stuffed animals, etc. - all at the same time. I really stay on top of that with her. I usually keep her leashed to my bed at night, or in the crate. But she still manages to destroy at least one shoe a week.
She also gets quite a bit of exercise (usually) - outside at least 2x day for an hour, playing & running hard with her Labradoodle friend or me.
I'm not at my wit's end, 'cus she's not going anywhere. For every shoe she destroys, she does something wonderful, so it's just getting her out of this habit. I'd just like to keep some of my shoes. :((
Any ideas appreciated! Thank you! :))
(Here's a pic of her a couple of months ago, next to my "problem child" lol)
