The cold front may have done some bad and good. The hibbies did not like it. Creole lady was slow opening today but well worth it.
Robert
One of the prettiest Creole Lady blooms I've seen so far
Here is a seedling from dupont. It is a funky bloom today. Was trying to be a double. I counted 9 petals on it. It's usually a single. The cross is Barry Schlueter x Miss Fantasy. I dont care for the bush much (growth takes after the pod parent) But the bloom is usually a beauty. So.... What to do with it. Time will tell!!!!
Beautiful!
You know, I'd volunteer to take any that you don't like off your hands and out of your way ^_^
Stunning Creole Lady, I just love those colors!! That DuPont seedling is cool. Ya know, if you don't know what to do with it, it would definitely find a happy home with all its cousins over in So Cal, lol >:-}
The colors in Creole Lady are beautiful! I love the warm bright edge surrounding the purple --awesome contrast. -- plus you must have a great camera to capture such a beauty. Snug
Creole Lady is gorgeous...and look at the buds coming up behind her. So beautiful.
The Creole Lady that I got from you is full of buds with one about to open. I know it will be a beauty. All plants from Robert are super. My visit to his place was a treat and I plan on a return trip. Keep those photos coming guy, we all enjoy them. I am a bit colder than you so you give me a great preview of coming events.

All of mine needs to be potted up in large size. Will get that done when I am sure of no more cold nights. GH is too full to do it now.
Love that bright color and fluffy bloom!
Thanks... Its the second day on the bloom
Great blooms as usual Robert. The cold weather can be a real pain but it sure can produce some "killer blooms"!!!
Jon
Thanks everyone,
Paczona, Very pretty bloom!
threegardeners and karen...I may do some cuttings to see how well the seedling roots. I am really trying to get away from grafted plants after this winter and the losses of the grafted vs own root.
David you are welcome anytime! I hope you get some outstanding colors from her when she opens. And for that matter y'all are all welcome to come visit. Still working on the greenhouse here and off site, cleaning the yard but your welcome, just pardon the mess LOL Have many new buds forming on many, many, many hibiscus, Should be blessing us soon with blooms.
Bon Temps was 7' tall I cut her back to 5'. Same as Yuletide, Haunted House, Nightmare, Hawaiian Salmon, Both el cap and sport and chinese lantern was just HUGE. Cut all hibbies back starting about 5 weeks ago and I have some small bushes and some massive bushes. Close to 500 all together. I am planting many stock plants now that have been in pots for years. I will only plant own root and not grafted. Some have 3-4" diameter trunks. Just hope they make it.
I bought my 1st Brugs today. It will probably be my next addiction. LOL Got a Purple, Pink, Yellow and White. I guess they are just basic colors since I am not that familiar with them.
Jon, hows the crossing going? Cant wait to see your own creations!
Take Care,
Robert
Cool on the brugs - yes, I see more addictions in your near future, lol. Hey, a purple one? What is the cultivar name? I'd love to have a purple brug!!!
One of these days, Robert, you need to post a picture of your yard with all those huge plants for those of us who don't get to live in Texas! Or, fellow addicts, I think it's time to board the hibiscus bus for a trip on over to Robert's place ;-)
Robert, I have never seen a purple brug. Are you sure that it is not a Dat.?
I was at Robert's very early so can not imagine what it looks like now. He is so willing to share his knowledge and has great plants. Even with some storm damage you will not notice it for the blooms. This may be a must for true addicts.
I will be so glad when the temps get a bit higher over night here. Low 40's or high 30's this week and I will not chance it. Too many to move back and forth to the GH. I know things will really pop when they get out in the sunny area. Anxiously await my Creole Lady to open, seems like she has teased me long enough.
DD
Thanks for asking Robert.. Two of the four crossings didn't take as they fell off the plant. I'm still watching the other two. I'm glad everyone warned me that this is fairly typical so I won't get disappointed about it. I also pruned back most of mine in the ground this past week. Hate to sacrifice blooms but its for the better in the long run. Here's a photo of Hibiscus "Suprised Pleasure" opening this morning. I squeezed the pot in between Morning Glory "Heavenly Blue" and Osteospermum "FlowerPower Pink" just for some contrasting color.
