There are so many bulb websites, including those in Holland-direct mail.
Which sources do you really recommend? Size of bulb, etc?
best daffodil bulb source?
For daffy's, I like Brent and Becky's.

Scheepers is good too. I don't think their selection is quite as good on daffs but their prices are usually better. Their tulip selections are great.

Both have large, healthy bulbs and good reviews on Watchdog. They both also have free paper catalogs.
I agree with velnita on all of her statements and use the same sources.
I agree with Velnita and Steve. Both companies are terrific, and I use them both too. And Brent and Becky give a 10% discount on bulb orders paid by July 1. It evens out the pricing a bit for quality that is pretty unbeatable.

Has anybody tried Fedco Bulbs? I am trying to choose a company for a school fund raiser. I am hoping to find out how they compare with the other companies mentioned. Van Engelen's is also a possibility since we would be buying in bulk.
I also agree with velnita on bulb sources.
Van Engelen is owned by John Scheepers. Same quality but offers landscape sizes and bulk quantities.
thanks for this advice...still looking for suggestions for the tallest yellow daffodil to plant to replace the very tall yellow tulips that I love. I can't deal with the deer problem anymore. Forget sprays, nets etc--the tulips are the deer's heavenly food in my yard!
I have seen a tall daffodil described in one of the catalogs, I think Brent and Becky's, called Stratosphere.
Mauryhillfarm: Before deciding to order from anyone, please check them out in DG's Garden Watchdog. I've ordered from Brent & Becky's and Scheeper's and been happy with my bulbs. Reasonable prices, good quality.
Thanks for the tip, Hemophobic. That is a really good point. Since I will be ordering a very large amount and distributing to many people, I need to be absolutely sure we have a good experience.
I organized a Spring fundraiser through Touch of Nature a couple of years ago and it went very well. Everyone was happy with their plants. I would do it through them again if I could do the actual organizing and get the kids selling over the next few months instead of waiting for September. I want to make a June order and have that part done and over with, just have distribution to do in the Fall. Brent and Becky's already sent me the catalog, but the prices might be a little high for it to work.
Mauryhillfarm: Scheeper's has wholesale prices for its bulbs as well as retail, so check them out before ordering . They seem reasonable to me at wholesale for fundraisers.
Don't forget Colorblends for a great source too! :) Also there, Colorblends "Daffodil Depot"
