I have seen references to digging a pit for the filter and/or pump. I am looking for a good way to hide the essentials to having good water clarity, but want the natural look of not seeing any of the workings.
If I dig out an area for the filter from a bottom drain (or the like) can this be housed in a pit?
If so, when I would want to drain out the bottom of the filter, if I dig a channel that at the end will be lower than the outlet at its end point, has any one done something like this?
How deep do you dig? Any recommendations to size?
Is this only for the pump?
How do you run out your electric cord to the outlet? Any good photos of what this would look like?
Last, any creative ways to hide the opening? I thought of decking that could be slid over it and away; or a shallow box that I could plant some grass or other plants that would fit over it, but not too heavy to move it.
Thanks for any and all ideas.

Construction of a pit for pond equipment
Thank you for replying to this question of mine, too, Bonnie.
You have done so much to make your pond look as natural as possible...Is the chamber for the filters premade, or is made for any other purpose? Or did you have it custom made?

Bonnie:
May I ask how he made his chamber for the filter? What is it made out of? Also, how do you drain the filters when you need to clean them out since they are underground?
That is a good idea with a dock...would I assume that is her filter buried underneath?
