Need suggestions for total shade

Spring, TX(Zone 9b)

My sister has a patio that has a "garden" area around it, under total shade. She'd like a little color and height.

I'm thinking coleus. What else???????

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Columbine
Penstemon
Pigeonberry

I am currently working outside at my potted shade plant garden, which includes:
philodendron domesticus,
staghorn fern
phalaenopsis orchids
begonias

BTW, in what USDA hardiness zone does your sister live? The plants listed above are outside year-round here in South Florida, zone 10-b.

Take care.
Sylvain.

I have firesprikes. They have a long red flower that the hummingbirds love. They can get -overgrown ( 3 feet or more ) just cut them back. I've enjoyed these plants. Also, they are easy to root.

Mary do you grow the firespikes in full shade? I had a red last year in full sun and this year added purple. I may try the purple in shade. They would give color and height.
