Looking for Pictures of Brugs..please post/share here

My plant loving and currently plantless brother and sister in law are receiving their first 2 brug cuttings today from a wonderful fellow DG'er. I want to share some pictures of brugs with them... I am saying them... brugs are being sent to her but my brother is showing an interest!. She doesn't know what she is getting into! She has been asking "how big can they get"... so has my brother. Never heard my brother interested in a plant in my life! I am looking for some pictures I can share with them. Actually, any of your brug pictures you are willing to share are welcome! I just want you to let me share them with her.

I am looking for pictures of the entire plant... in ground and potted... examples of how big they can get in different sizes of pots... anyone living in the type of climate they live in will really be helpful too!

They in Galveston living on their little sail boat. They lost their house in hurricane Ike and have very little left. These two cuttings are going to be her first plants. She had so many plants in the FL keys when hurricane Wilma came.. destroyed those.. they moved to Galveston.. she finally had a good collection going again.. along came IKE! They lost absolutely everything this time.. no insurance either. I was a little worried about her being able to water these two plants because they were having to carry in water daily but as of this weekend.. they finally have water! My brother and the others living on their boats finally got together and put in a system of garden hoses to the boats so they have water! Yea.. electricity AND water... finally!

this is the first brug I ever had bloom... of course..it is the one I planted in my mothers yard!

Thank you, these are beautiful... I know she is going to love seeing them

her's another growing on the roof.. Dark Rosella.. your mother should be able to duplicate any of these..keeping the roots cool would help.. perhaps making a square foam container..with tie down cleats.. or better still a few holes in the top part of the container to lash it down.. fewer parts..and the foam won't scratch the deck.. got a foam planter construction how to somewhere.. I can see this one hanging over the wheel.. I guess they stay hooked up most of the time.. I'd like to trade the roof for something with a big sail.. here's DR

these are my babies.. hanging over my wheel.. now I just need a few more parts..

no choice but to stay hooked up.. way too much damage from hurricane Ike... the boat survived but needs lots of work... many parts will not be replaceable... no insurance either... it is just a tiny place to live... very tiny. My smallest bedroom is a luxury mansion compared to the space they are living in now, but she is delighted to have some plants to grow again... I mean, truly delighted! Those little cuttings have given her something to be excited about for the first time in many months. that is why I am wanting pictures for her... something to look at to think what her babies can possibly grow into one day. They will be growing on the pavement in front of where the boat is tied. Once they are large enough... she will be potting them into the largest pots she can find. Probably those with the rope handles. They will be in full sun.. absolutely no shade anywhere around there but she really has a green thumb and used to have lots of plants before hurricane Wilma in FL wiped them out. I think they will do well for her.

well..in traveling on a boat... they say is the most expencive way of traveling third class..
As insulated a pot they can go in..the better.. watering will cool them.. and the foam.. helps to hold the cool.. if she needs more cuttings.. PLMK..

Thank you for the offer... I will let you know for sure... the ones she received are NOID's so will be complete surprise when they grow and bloom for her. I bet they grow a lot more quickly for her by the ocean than brugs do for me here in 5% humidity.

here is a picture I took of the boat last month.. he did some clean up but has not had time to start any repairs.. just enough to make it safe ... been working around town. the marina they are in is still a complete mess from the hurricane... they are going to start some work soon.. or maybe have finally started. My brother ran some electrical line so they have electricity and set up the water system.

There were only 1,500 of this particular boat built and amazingly, there is another one of these in Galveston.. Tom took me by to see it when we were there...the other one is in better shape than Toms.. guess it was not set free during Ike like this poor little survivor.. after teh hurricane, he found it in the middle of a pile of trashed and half sunken boats.

This is the first brug I grew from seed last year. I had it outdoors in a pot but Ike's winds were forcast to be coming up this way and since it was already being knocked over I had to send it to my son's greenhouse.
We got 70mph winds which blew over and out a lot of the tall plants. It developed one seed pod and someone took it..I was heartbroken..they could have left me a few seeds at least.
