Strange title I admit.
But around here we're sometimes looking for someone dependable etc we could get to do jobs and right now we're considering lots of home improvements to make in the next couple years (windows, window tinting, new sod, paint the house exterior, new shutters, etc). Many things we are DIYers on just because it's cheaper and DH has the know how but he doesn't always have the time.
Can anyone recommend a place in Houston that will deliver FRESH pallets of St Augustine grass? We've already got a good friend who we will be paying to lay the sod. This will be our first improvement but I'm not sure who to call for the grass. And how long can it actually sit on that pallet? I'm thinking you don't have it delivered until the DAY of install.
Thank-you in advance!
Houston Area Yellow Pages
I laid sod many years ago and this is what I learned.
.the sod shouldnt be cut any earlier than the day before you install it.
you try to have it laid in one day
you keep it in the shade and moist while you are using it.
the prep of the yard is the key to success.
Look in the yellow pages for a Sod farm or call the county extention agent for a list of dealers. Talk to them before you order.
If any of it is yellow when you get it, refuse it its not good. the chances of it taking root is slim..
that about all i can remember.. Oh ,except for this... take advil or something like that before you start laying it and through out the day while working. its back breaking work and your body will thank you in the evening after you are done...lol.
