So, I'm a new gardener to N. Central FL and was going through color withdrawal in late November. Got sucked into buying some PW petunias at HD for hanging baskets which did really well until we hit some unusual 20 deg. nights in late January and I didn't protect them. Blossoms froze, but foliage seemed healthy although limp. Kept watering them & they not only bounced back, they went NUTS!
Planning on using them more next year WITH protection ;)
For N. Central FL, Proven Winner Petunias ARE winners!
They are really showing out. Beautiful and healthy. Laverne
Wow, those are beautiful........how many plants in your basket?
Very nice, we are starved for annuals. Crocus bulbs just comming on up here.
Nice! We also just have crocus in bloom...with a few tulips just getting brave enough to peek up...lol
Its hard to be a gardener when you dont have any patience.
My gardens were new last year so I'm anxious to see what survived and what did well over the winter.
Is everything brown in Wa?
bugme - I used four per their website's "recommendation", but I think I'll cut back next time ;)
I'm formerly from MI, so it's difficult to break away from the old "don't plant annuals until Memorial Day" routine, LOL. Unfortunately, I have to do everything in containers since we live on a sandbar...
if yoiu want more green with color thru out the year, Dwarf mexican Petunia's are great... they are VERY VERY HARDY
Dwarf Mex. Petunias are great for those areas that "nothing else will grow"... I have started a bunch in our cul-de-sac to have color and greenery...yes, they can be invasive if you don't "weed" them out every so often...I've found that people will take almost any kind of flower if it's free
"I've found that people will take almost any kind of flower if it's free"...LOL!!! you got that right DG71...
Denise...they're gorgeous! I think PW's are really good also!
