I got some of those tulip jars at COSTCO and I want to refil them with new bulbs......I can't find any bulbs anywhere...and ideas? Why are they all gone?
Thanks, Ginger
Why No Tulip Bulbs?
Tulips, Daffodils etc.. are normally planted in the fall for spring blooms. Look for bulbs for sale in the fall.. sorry
You may find some potted ones at the grocery store or nursery soon that can ge used for this season..
HUmm.OK so I potted my COSTCO tulips that have already bloomed in the water jars. At some point I'll have to dig them up and store them right? at that point there might be more of them? Don't they multiply?

Once they bloom and the leaves die back to brown , clip off the dead leaves. You can either store them until fall or transplant them directly into the soil now. Soil should have good drainage.
Most will multiply over time when in the soil. Just leave them in the soil and do not dig them up each year.
Does that work the same if they're in pots?
Do you leave them in the ground if it gets really freezing -10 ish where they are?
Thanks!

I have some in planters and in the ground. I have only lived in Oregon for 2 1/2 years. Coming from California, I always dug up the bulbs and stored them and pre chilled them prior to replanting.
Up here...they chill in ground .. I am a zone 7a and the coldest it got this winter was about 12 deg. They all survived and are growing well. Good drainage is key...
WOW. They are .lovely.. Here is my favorite Costco tulip. I have no idea what its name is. THey came in those jar kits. No clue what they are until they bloom. I got yellow, red, purple and this one. (Fortunately I also got a Canon Rebel for Christmas)

That is a beautiful tulip! Good job!
I might have success in my tulip search. American Meadows has a bunch...Now I am waiting to hear of they will send them to me now..not next fall.
