GOT THE OK TODAY FROM THE INSPECTOR!

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

I'M BACK IN BUSINESS BUT BOY OH BOY DO I HAVE A LOT OF CLEAN-UP!

Gainesville, FL(Zone 9a)

Its over???? Its finally over???? I have been a wreck watching that, your a saint. Not much you can do when life hands you one of those 'no choice' situations...but still...that has gone on along time and took what was a great garden away...temporarily.

Good for you!!!!

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

I'll take pictures as I go starting tomorrow if weather allows. Rain?? Have to wash my empty EBs with bleach, fill them up with BocaBobs coir plant my seedling peppers and direct seed my melons but first must place my rose containers back for room.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Congratulations..Just don't over do

Johnson City, TN(Zone 6b)

I hope you have some help, Tplant. There is a lot to do.

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

A lot to do but not today! Had very heavy rain today and everything is sopping wet plus more on the way. Patience is a Virtue????

Dade City, FL(Zone 9a)

Be very very happy for that rain. I'm up in Hernando and we are in terrible shape with no rain. Some areas have now banned automatic sprinklers until further notice. Send some our way, please? Hope you get to it soon. I know it's probably driving you crazy.

Gainesville, FL(Zone 9a)

We need it BAD too. So so sandy right now.

Crestview, FL

A friend of mine is worried about their lawn in south Fl right now, they said they have water restrictions again. He has plans to replant his lawn with Zoysia grass, waiting to see how his does before contemplating the same thing here, my weeds are greener and taller than my crab grass for sure. Glad I don't have water restrictions on my well water though (smiles).

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

Started my clean-up yesterday as I have a lot of things to put back in place before I can do some serious gardening. I thought I would accomplish a lot today because the weather is just beautiful with a strong SW breeze and low humidity which is perfect but their is a snafu today. A huge vacum mashine rolled in a little while ago and is being used to clean out the new sewer lines of any dirt or matter that may cause problems after construction but the noise is completely unbearable! I had to drop everything and came inside where the noise was still loud. I've never heard anything so loud since this construction began, Obviousily I can not work out there without the possibility of hearing damage! To top that off they are going to move the construction mobile unit and then will start grading again with the bulldozer and the wind is blowing directly my way. If it isn't one thing it is another. I've been trying to get my garden started to show all of you but the odds are against me! I JUST MAY PACK IT IN THIS SEASON AND TAKE IT EASY AS MY DOCTOR SUGGESTS BECAUSE OF MY BRONCITIS AND THE DUST THAT THEY CREATE. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THEY ARE FINISHED WORKING ON OUR PROPERTY BUT NEVER TELL ME WHEN THEY ARE WORKING ON THE SCHOOL PROJECT WHICH CAUSES DUST. I HAVE SO MUCH WORK TO DO BEFORE I CAN EVEN PLANT MY PEPPERS WHICH ARE DOING GREAT IN BB's PLANTER KIT. THEY JUST MAY BEAR PEPPERS RIGHT THERE IN MY BEDROOM. Pardon the bold type but it is a way of expressing my frusteration...

Johnson City, TN(Zone 6b)

So Sorry Tplant. How frustrating and upsetting. It has to get better some time. They cna't keep working there forever?

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

I got a chance to start some clean-up yesterday in prepareation for my main planting but on hold today and may be a few more days because they have a huge vacum truck out there today sucking out the new sewer lines to make sure they are clear and let me tell you -- this is the worst noise ever. When it started it was over at the new construction and the noise was loud then but as they get closer it is really loud to loud to be outside. Even in the houde which is very much insulated the noise is very loud and now they are working their way over here! Also the mobile field office will be moved today and they will have to grade the ground for more sod so that also means more dust! I'M ABOUT READY TO JUST GIVE UP FOR THE SEASON AND RELAX. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

Gainesville, FL(Zone 9a)

On the up side, that trailer/office being moved, and some sod...along with the palms coming out...going to be pretty. And...at least they got your sand covered. Im a visual person, I could visulize nothing from the construction pictures, I thought you were doomed. Now...now its clear that your going to be able to have a nice spot again. Hope you can at least get your pots of roses out, they will bloom so nice thru the summer. Well, most of the summer.

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

This is the machine!!! Wish they would hurry up and take down this ugly fence so I can place some of my fragrant roses in front of my deck?

How often does that drain have to be serviced?

Can you put a piece of latice and some jasmine or something in a pot growing up it, on each side. If they needed to get in a side, you would just have to pick up the pot and the latice...a hassle, but doable, especially if its infrequently.

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

I don't recall anything so darn loud? It is driving me nuts. Glad the family is not home. Poor Scooter! I can't protect her ears but it doesn't seem to bother her? Have cotton in my ears but the vibrations still come through. They should be finished very soon as there are only two more drains to do and it takes approximately ten minutes per drain. Maybe I'll be able to get out ther anyway if the dust does not start to kick up?
AHHH !! They are pulling away now -- I hope?

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

gardenglory -- You are a mind reader! I have two large Jasmine in pots and that was my intention although with the grass it does not reall take away from the lawn but I will do my best to pretty it up.

Gainesville, FL(Zone 9a)

It did fade in pretty good didnt it. I have a phobia about walking on those grates.

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

Me too especially with my precious six year old grandson but it is perfectly safe but he stays off them anyway because I told him snakes like to hide in them! Sneaky aren't I???

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

I'm not waiting any longer for the darned inspector as I must get started or miss my season.

I dont blame you. Ive got a day of it myself. Need to replace some tomatoes the storm broke. Plant some cukes and squash. My sugar snaps are producing like litte champs. Hope your weather is as beautiful as ours. Wont last long. I have to get things 'tightend up' around here, or it will get to hot and I will stand at the window and watch the non planted stuff die.

Johnson City, TN(Zone 6b)

Tplant...Go to it. This was your "before." We look forward to the happily ever "afters."

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

No good! They stopped me by asking me nicely to wait for the inspection? Guess I'll just stay with the clean up as there is a lot to do on that subject.

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

This is what it looked like a couple of months ago.

Thanks to my son and DIL yesterday, these trees were planted. I had a freak accident and pulled a hamstring in my left leg and as (Extremely painful) a result could not do anything but sit in pain and watch. Thank goodness for darvosette.
In order closest to the deck are Red navel orange, Persimmons tree and Carambola or commomly called Star Fruit. I just loved eating them as they ripened on the tree and I would grab one as I was working. If you've never tasted one you are in for a treat.

This was a before shot of my combo garden as was before.

Now set-up with roses, Two Brugs, and Dahlias in BocaBobs five gallon gro-bags. White is important here as black would attract to much heat. I also have his watering system taking care of everything so I don't have to water manually. I know the roses don't look full but they were pruned and have been moved around so many times that I am surprised they survived all the commotion.

In the background against the black chain link fence I planted a five Don Juan roses of different ages the youngest being the largest? Why? Well I tried Coco coir from www.instagarden.com with my fertilizer that I've always used for roses and the new ones (far right and third from right) have outgrown the older. They seem to really love the coco coir.

Still have more to show but my leg won't allow me to walk that well. I am very happy with the new look of our home although I was very late with a lot of my melon planting this year and may not produce melons because of the heat as they are still very young and susceptible to the extreme heat of 85* - 90* which is too hot for seedlings and pollination but I thought I'd try.

Everything looks great.
Hope you get feeling better soon.

Looking good Tplant. And just remember.............whenever you think nothing else could possibly go wrong.......it does.:-)

Johnson City, TN(Zone 6b)

Glad to see everything coming into place Ted. Good man. Devota

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

Thanks Everyone! I've been kind of inactive because of all the clean-up work that had to be done plus my health problems, not serious but just enough to make me do nothing. I must say our home will look beautiful when all is in bloom. Still have a Condo Mango to plant (forgot the name) and my beautiful Miami Rose Plumeria. This was a very kind gift from Dutchlady for which I will be eternally grateful as it is an eye popper if you know my meaning. I intend to plant it at the main entrance to the cafeteria parking lot so all will see it's beautiful flowers and smell its fragrance every morning to greet them to work. I'll show pictures when planted.

Miami, FL(Zone 10b)

Looks real nice TP. I can't wait to see the maters in there later this year.

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

You and me both! Now it's back to normal without interruptions and forceing me to cut my season short as when I had to eliminate my tomatos because their was a bulldozer digging up my garden. For the short season that I had I did have some magnificent tomatos and hope to do the same this season come August. Only difference will be growing completely in coco coir and not Jungle Growth.

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

Much to my surprise my melons are growing fairly well inspite of the late planting. I'm going to fill this EB today with the excess coco coir that is in the tub and save it for later besides the melon vines need the room.

Found a small cantaloupe this morning with a few other tiny ones just starting to develop.

Nice melons! From the size of them, they look like they're pollinated and ready to grow big. When mine aren't pollinated they die off very small(a little bigger than a quarter). I love to watch melons grow and form, I find it fascinating.
