Looking for bread pudding recipe from WWII

I've been trying to find my mom's bread pudding recipe,but can't. She told me once that it had come from a WWII rations book recipe collection.I've tried a number of different recipes,but none seem to match- even ones in repro books from that era. It seemed like such a simple dish,we never thought to ask her to write it down.Now my sis and I are going crazy trying to reproduce it! Country Kitchen Buffet restaurants around here had a bread pudding that was pretty darn close, but they wouldn't give us the recipe.Help?
