I loved the blue rocks, and the help is nothing to sneeze at either. I'm with Catscan, do you sell fertile eggs. Thanks for the beautiful pic's. Haystack

How do they compare to Barred for laying?
They are beautiful.. I really like them!

You could list some eggs in the Marketplace ya know.. :)

Citra, FL

Id rather not do that. I dont get that many each week; Im never sure how many Ill have, and Ive usually got one order to go out a week, sometimes two. If I start getting more eggs, I might do that, but at this point, I just have people contact me if they want them. I would hate to put something on there, and then have 6 people contacting me wanting eggs right away, and I couldnt do it for them.

So far my blue pen is just about keeping pace with the barred pen. Im a little surprised. The eggs arent as big or as brown, they are more of a creamy color. Im hoping crossing with the barreds with increase size and color.

Im also running a top secret experiment.....sshhhh, dont tell anyone. Im hatching out some cuckoo marans, gorgeous dark ones, and Ill keep the girls to cross back on the splash rock roo to see if I can get blue rock hens that lay a darker color.

Veeeelllllyyyy interestink! dont you tink??

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Yes, I do think it very interesting. I would love to see the results!!!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Citra, FL

I just hatched out 10 of the blue x blue and black hens, and amazingly they are all blue!

(placing thumb on butt.....zzzzzttt!!!) man Im hot!!

I should go play the lottery tonight, Ive never had such good luck hatching.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Excellent! If you win the lottery, you can get a whole lot of eggs! LOL!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

That is great Fla!! Congrats!

Are the egg sizes similar between the two groups?

Citra, FL

The barred rock eggs are bigger than the blue rocks, tho they are a little older. I would expect the barreds to be bigger, just because they are bred for that more so than the blues. But Ive been pleasantly surprised with the blue rock eggs; I would say they are between medium and large eggs of what you'd buy at the grocery store. I have the first of the blue rock/barred rock pullets just starting to lay. They were hatched in September. Their eggs are pretty small, which Id expect for such young pullets starting out. It will be interesting to see if their eggs get bigger than the original blues.

They are just so....round! I luv them. The color looks soft. :D

Citra, FL

They are amazingly soft! One slipped under the wire yesterday, and I had to catch her. I couldnt believe how soft she was, like holding a puppy or something.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

I just knew it! I love petting them.

Clarksburg, MO

Those are some awesome and beautiful blues. Their color is so rich and they have beautiful conformation. I love the blue colors in chickens. I think it is striking and am like everyone else would love some eggies (hint hint).
