I have this beloved African Violet. It's passed down to me from my mentor when he moved away when he got a dream job. It was given to him by someone in the office when they got new jobs. Every time it bloomed the owner got a new job! Been like that for years .. it's legendary in the office and I truly treasure it!
For over a year it's doing fine, perky fat leaves looking healthy. However, it is in trouble now .. started with I being smart, thought instead of giving it water, I gave it my cooled green tea (thinking it has some nutrients/benefits). Then one day when clipping the dead leaves, the whole plant was pulled out of the pot. I put it back immediately and looked fine for days or weeks. Couple of weeks ago, I found a really bad smell in my office, and the source is the African Violet and it's becoming droopy. I brought it home put in the garage not sure what to do since the smells is so bad. Thinking it needs lights, today I left is in the sun first time since it looks worse, and it didn't help any. Most the leaves are turning from green to brownish, and droopy .. center 3 or 4 leaves are still green and perky. And the smell is still bad and I can't bring it back to the office.
Please help!!!
What did I do wrong and do I need to do to save my beloved African Violet!
HELP - My Beloved Legendary African Violet is In Trouble
wash the roots off with water, take all bad leaves off & repot & bag it till it is back to what it should be.Never herd of useing green tea, apparently the violet did not like it.

And put the old dirt into the trash can immediatly! That rot can waft throught the air (along w/the smell) and infect other things. I would also take a few good leaves and stick them in dirt or water to root some new plants, in case the mother dosen't make it. Bet wishes to you and your dream job plant.
