Crazy question: does a greenhouse that has the treated double windows (plastic) serve as a sunscreen for a human? I burn easy and wondered about that today when I was outside. I hate to have to wear my hat inside.
Thanks!
sunburn in a greenhouse?
Mmmm - I don't know, but now is the time to try it, while the sun is still a little on the weak side. Put sunscreen on everything but a small stripe on your arm when you work out there next.
And let me know - I burn like heck, too!
It does provide some UV protection (I know this because I've occasionally had plants get a little sunburned when I moved them out of the greenhouse into real sunlight right next to the greenhouse). But I'm not sure that it would provide enough protection to keep you from getting burned if you're spending an extended period of time in there--I'd probably do the hat or the sunscreen if you don't want to take chances. They are after all designed to let a good amount of sunlight through to the plants so I doubt if the "SPF" would be very high.
Thanks for the replies, time for an experiment. I'm going to ask Rion, too, what the heck, their help desk probably has nothing to do today, grins.
