The lady at the flea market simply calls it 'Mexican Herb' = do u know the botanical name?

It is Hoja santum also called "Rootbeer Plant"--------- Piper auretum
ty, but i've looked that one up already. mine doesn't bloom, or make fruit, or smell like anise or rootbeer.
mine is a foilage plant and smells more like sage. it multiplies by underground root system, i can only guess.
they pop up everywhere!
