Photos from Butterfly House in Chesterfield, Mo., a western suburb of St Louis. House is part of the MOBOT realm. I believe this is a Morpho peleides.

Lovely!!!
Nice photos!!! Thanks for sharing :o)
The only one we get that shows up here naturally is the Red Rim. We've yet to see a Blue Morpho escapee :o) - but considering that we get many rare strays from Mexico we always have something to look forward to every fall season.
Not sure if that swallowtail is a Broad-banded or something more exotic...looks to be missing tails? Gotta love those huge silkmoths too!!! Don't you get a kick out of how the wings mimic a snake head...good for scaring some predators away.

Nice shots, I love the tropicals! The large Atlas Moth (Atacus atlas) were the biggest draw at our BF exhibit; but they do have to be pointed out because they don't move as you said.
I am not sure what your one above the moths are, but I just don't think it is a Malachite. I loved the Paper Kites, they are very friendly!
LOL about concrete butterfly of significant proportions......
