I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited. We have been looking and looking for a Standard Partridge Cochin roo for our four girls. We actually talked to a man last spring at the Sedalia Poultry show that raised show quality partridge cochins. He had brought several roos for sale, but we missed it by about 10 minutes (the story of my life). So we got his number and then the kids spilled juice in my purse and I couldn't read the number and had no idea what his name was (did I say the story of my life). Anyway, we went through NPIP certification last week and received a book of NPIP breeders in Missouri and so I called all with Partridge Cochins and the first returned call was from the gentleman we met last year.
He said he had 2 roos and 4 hens for sale as he was getting out of that breed. So we jumped in the van and drove 3 hours to meet him last night and now I have the most beautiful pen of Giant Partridge Cochins I have ever seen. I would bet that one of the roos is over 3 feet. I just cannot believe he is that big and the girls probably weigh between 11 and 12 pounds.
And get this after a 3 hour trip home and adjusting to a new space, 3 of the 4 girls laid eggs for me today.
Oh My Gosh, I am the Lucky Chicken Lady.

Call Me Lucky Chicken Lady
Congratulations! I love it when the plan comes together! Lucky chicken lady you! Too cool.
WOW!!! What a story. Somebody is looking out for you. Gotta tell ya that story even made me feel warm and fuzzy. It's not funny, but, the drink in the purse and all the things that could gotten messy the one thing you really did not want to be destroyed was. The irony of it all is just to much.
WOW Knsl those are some heavy birds, I'm so happy for you. Have fun with your new guy's n gal's. Haystack.
How wonderful Sheila! I am so happy for you, (except for the juice in the purse :/ ) Could you take some pics of those beauties? The roo sounds beautiful. I am glad all went well and they are laying already!! They must be some really laid back chickens!! hehehe Have a great day!!!
That's fabulous Sheila! I remember how gorgeous those hens were that you bought at the show. They were like chicken supermodels. I can't wait to see your roos!! Post pics!!!
Moxy got to see our partridge cochin supermodels and these girls I brought home make them look like trailer trash (not downing anyone in a trailer as I live in one also). I am hoping to have pics this weekend. I cannot find my camera cord and will have to go to WalMart to get another and the closest is about an hour away. Anywho, thanks for all of the great comments and well wishes.
