Another clematis thread #2

(Zone 4a)

For those of you who love and grow clematis in Zone 4 can you please tell me which ones you have and which ones have done remarkably well for you in this zone? Meaning well....is did it establish well? Does it flower well. Would you recommend it? Maybe even recommend some of the ones you were not impressed with? Which ones were more prone to wilt etc...I am looking into a few more varieties but I want to be sure they are ones that already grow well in Zone 4. TIA.

For me The President took off right from the start and I have never had any trouble with this one and she puts on a great show of huge flowers. Same for the Nelly Moser - she is awesome!

I also love Comtess de bouchard which has done exceptionally well for me - unbelievable for me...fast growth and blooms on first year.

Star of India is coming along now after a couple years but she had a slow start.

I planted Pink Champagne and she got Wilt not even in the first month I planted her so that was discouraging for me. Not sure if I will see her back this spring or not.

The other clems I have I can't comment too much on right now because I planted them last spring and those would be.....Etoile Violette, John Huxtable, Ville de Lyon, and Polish Spirit.

I am looking for new varieties to include in my garden. However I want some good hardy ones for my zone.....thanks in advance if you read this far.....
