I think it was the reference to "social viscosity" that done you in. We don't cotton to such high falutin language here. "Poop" is okay though.

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

I think it was the choice of libation....
someone feels you have poor taste!

DG is haunted now?

Some beings have trouble "going toward the light.":0)

Not chickens though. They can't see anything in the dark. Does anyone remember which visual receptor they are lacking? Owls and some other nocturnal birds have a lot of rods--so maybe it is rods they are deficient in (is my preposition dangling?). Maybe they have lots of cones which are color sensitive. I wonder how reptile eyes function?

Yes, your preposition is dangling.

"...maybe it is rods in which they are deficient."

I wonder how praying mantis eyes function.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I can't see much in the dark either. I wonder if that is cause I don't have cones.. or do I?

Lodi, United States

Yes, you have cones--but human night vision begins to deteriorate in childhood. So your rods are a little frazzled.

Oh Catscan, you know me so well..

I get night blindness if I don't eat my carrots. The down side is I turn orange when I eat alot of carrots so I try to balance between 'bumblestumple nights' and 'orange days'.

Dahlianut - new duck bathtime thread!

Deleted as it was not understood as intended and therefore totally useless as anything but fuel for the wrong fires....

Further note. I never post anything with ANY intention of giving offense. Please ask me before taking it.

Failing that. If one chooses to take offense -I have no control over anyone else' actions. I can only control my own. I will not, WILL NOT, spend my time trying to anticipate the various ways in which things may be interpreted as offensive. I will not filter every comment through a dirty lens to see if I can find a misconstruction. All it takes is looking if one wants to find something inappropriate.

A very well known religious volume phrases it this way "Seek and Ye shall find" Very well. I choose not to seek offense. I choose not to seek inappropriate innuendos. I choose not to seek malice. Your choices are your responsibility.

I don't at ALL think it's a bad example ZeeZ!! But some of our more sensitive types might... Y'know -it might look like alco***...which might look like.....which might look like.....and we wouldn't want THAT.

Please don't apologize to me -you did absolutely nothing wrong. And if anyone finds anything wrong with this thread or anything in it I say they are looking too hard to find offenses. Will D-mail.

I think anyone looking for dirt in this is scraping the bottom of the barrel. I will ask admin to remove it.

I would be appalled if anyone took it wrong.
It is totally irrational to think that your son was doing anything wrong.
It is totally inappropriate to construe that as being in any way negative.

"I'm not sure what you are saying grow.. but Geez, it was an innocent, funny moment making fun of commercials, and calling attention to how affectionate his favorite chicken is.. (and how heavy she is) I read nothing else into it." --No one in his or her right mind should read anything into this thread, ZeeZ. That was the entire point. Hypersensitivity leads to irrational actions like what I was pretending to believe.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Now I know why so many people wanted to leave here... We all know who is behind this.. LOL

Come on out and say it!! Don't use me as an example to tell them how stupid they are!

Grownut, I am not upset with you. The loving mom in me did a "knee jerk" response in defense of my parenting skills, and my son's choices.

I am absolutely NOT upset with you, and I now realize it was only an attempt to show how ridiculous it is to read anything negative into this.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!! My tongue was so firmly in my cheek! Gah! Maybe I shoulda bit it while I had the chance...

OK. In the interest of clarifying and preventing any wrong guesses as to what happened I am reinserting a summary of my original comment.

I basically said that Cody was equally as dangerous in his pose which mimics the party spirit of those imbibing in a well known beverage commercial as were those who were condemned for mentioning imbibing 6-8 oz of a traditional beverage after work in a traditional manner. Highly dangerous if reports are to be believed. I went on to say that I believe this degree of sensitivity tends to generate more unhealthy and offensive interpretations than it prevents. I didn't make myself clear enough and ZeeZ thought I'd cracked my last gourd.

I will repeat one point:
Hypersensitivity begets offense. The more we look the more we will find.

Or, as that great detective Sherlock Holmes has said:

"Violence does, in truth, recoil upon the violent, and the schemer falls into the pit which he digs for another"

--"The Adventure of the Speckled Band" page 272 :0)

My Nankin is brooding 6 Frizzled Japanese eggs--am I a lucky camper or what?

Sherlock has me beat by a country mile.

How cool on the broody!! How long has she had them?
