Fleming Island Rachel - Blooming again!

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Color,Color,Color!!! Fleming Island Rachel is very pretty german cultivar by
Ludger Schneider grown out here in the U.S.. This very tall growing brugmansia has some of the richest, most vibrant color of any double that I have grown. Documented as a 2005 cultivar it has only recently been released. After 2 years of growing, she is a huge 12 footer with a gorgeous dark green canopy in my garden. I have been very successful in hybridizing with this one. She sits with nine pods and has been outcrossed to several great cultivars as well. You can see a Rosalie pod in the picture.
She has just started blooming again. I'll post more pics as she fills out with more blooms.

Beautiful! Where can I get one of these, Gary?

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Gorgeous! Doris, please pass the tissue! Another one for my wish list.
Gary, how tall was it when it produced it's first "Y"? Does it bloom well?

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Betty it was pretty tall before it 'Y'd. Since it's i posted the first pictures a while back it has had blooms continuously but I was busy chopping them up before they bloomed out. I am tired now of pollinating now and I think I am close to being done for the season. I decided to just enjoy her blooms this time around. I have to go up on a ladder tonight to see about fragrance.

oh my goodness.. I am stunned by that ones' beautiful colour!

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Gary, it's hard to imagine having to use a ladder to get to a bloom. Will your pods be ready to pick before you go back up north? But then you'll have something to look forward to when you return next fall.

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes, i don't leave till june so everything should be picked by then. That's the reason i have pretty much stopped my pollinating. I am just going to enjoy most of the stuff i bloom from now on (although there are a few exceptions). I probably have close to 50 pods on various cultivars. All of them planned. This year I have discarded all of my bee pollinated pods just as soon as I saw them start. I have too many known crosses to worry about the bee pods.

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

So, I guess this one isn't available to us - is that right?

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Not at this moment, at least not from me..I have to wait for my pods to ripen before I can begin to cut her up for rooting cuttings.

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the response!

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

How close is she related to F.I.Spider?

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

No relation at all except that Ludger Schneider is the hybridizer of both and John Scott is the seedling parent of both.
F.I. Rachel is Kleine Lady x Everlasting Ruby and F.I. Spider is Charleston x Kascade
