"Spike Plant" a Ti Plant? surprises with flowers

Vieques, PR

We've kept these over the winter in the bubble over our little endless pool. At first, I thought this was a weed in the pot, but no --first time I've ever seen one flower.

Don't think it is a Cordyline....but a flax? Dianella?

Cordylines do bloom in spikes similar to that one; I have a plant that looks just like yours, only the leaves are dark red/purple. It hasn't bloomed, though.

I have both the green and the dark purple.

Excellent...thanks

The flowers have started opening, and emit a powerful and very pleasant aroma --I think they smell similar to freesias.

Some of the tips of the flower spikes have rotted, due the the constant moisture, but many flowers appear ready to come out.

Those flowers look more like a Dianella than a Cordyline.

They do look similar to Dianella, though these open upwards and are white, wheras the dianella pix in PlantFiles seem to open downward and seem more purple.

I don't have the profusion of blossoms, but the flowers I have look just like this

Good observation JP! I have a variegated Dianella tasmanica with white flowers. The flowers do point down; they have a purple tinge on the outside; the spikes do not look like your plant.
