Meet Tooney!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thought you might like to meet this sweet guy. He came to us from another city's shelter - was dropped off there , no info but about 12 years old, original owner a senior who had to go into a nursing home. Told the dog was female but soon found out she was a he!
He has been with us for 3 weeks now, lst 2 weeks in a different foster home, with me since Friday. Needs some extensive dental work which we decided to do since he seemed otherwise in good health, has a cataract in one eye and maybe going deaf. What we though was a fat lump on one side started last weekend to look irritated and draining -turns out to probably be a ? cyst which is infected so started antibiotics which caused some stomach upset and have to change that too. Original foster home feeling over his head with these issues so Tooney is now with me. Paced constantly first day or so but settling down now - mostly ignores my dogs and they ignore him, met the cats and got told the rules which is OK too. Walks very nicely on leash .
He will have his dental surgery later this week and the lump ? cyst removed too. But we will not send it for patholgy - even if it was a cancer we could not afford to treat.
He will be difficult to adopt out because of his age and so we anticipate he will be with us for a while but you never know!
So I now have 3 senior half deaf dogs living with me!
We did not know his name so the lst foster home named him Tooney which is what Shelties were originally called.
