CLOSED: Available next month: native tree & shrub seedlings

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I purchased a large number of seedlings from the county soil & water district, more than I need. I pick them up April 18, so if you are interested in reserving a few, let me know. Here's what I'm getting:

Acer saccharum - sugar maple
Liriodendron tulipifera - tuliptree
Prunus serotina - black cherry
Amelanchier canadensis - shadbush
Sambucus canadensis - American elderberry
Corylus americana - hazelnut
Cornus sericea - red-osier dogwood

Also, I have self-sown seedlings of American elm, cottonwood (one seedling grew over 4 ft. last year!), & green ash.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I would love a Tulip Tree or 2 and a Red-Osier Dogwood please. What would you like in return??

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I'd love that cottonwood, I know how fast they grow, we use to have one on our other property. I was amazed at how fast it grew.

Let me know what your looking for in trade.

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

I don't know if I have anything you would want in a trade but I would like one of the sugar maple and the green ash, and maybe the american elm.

Brewton, AL(Zone 8b)

Jsorens, would love to try some of your seedlings, what are you looking for. I might have some other trees you might like to try. Thanks and just let me know when you get a chance.

are those tulip poplar trees? just want to remind everyone what two arborists told me: cut down or remove any tulip poplars with falling distance of your house. Seems they are very prone to breaking or falling in wind storms. the native ones here seem to prove that, you never see a big one with all our hurricanes.

Prattville, AL

What do you want in trade or are you doing for postage? I'm interested in the Tulip tree, Black Cherry and the dogwood.
Wish we had something like this in our area. For Arbor day they do offer some trees but I can get them in the woods so no new types of trees or shrubs.
Let me know what you want.
Thanks
Lynn

Wow, more responses than I've ever gotten to a trade thread! I'll D-mail each of you individually. If it comes down to it, I'll rely on first-come, first-served, but hopefully everyone gets something.

OHHHH you don't want to feed the birds elderberries you want to keep them and make wine!!!! Some of the best wine I ever drank was made from elderberries.

Liriodendron tulipifera - tuliptree

I know I can come up with something in trade

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

smhgarden - I don't know how western New York elderberries would do in California! Very different climate, we have long, moderately cold, very wet winters & fairly short, mild, sunny summers. Pretty sure these seedlings will be local or at least regional genotype.

bigred - Several things of yours pique my interest. I'll D-mail you.

crestedchik - I have a fairly large "wants" list you can peruse, but also feel free to suggest something if you don't find anything suitable there.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I have the following from your list

Virginia Spiderwort
Black-eyed Susan
Great Blue Lobelia
Virginia Bluebells
Oswego Tea (from Oswego county)
Garden Phlox
white or pink
Trout Lily( common yellow)
Spotted Joe Pye Weed(don’t know if its spotted)
Queen of the Prairie
Hardy Hibiscus(pink)
American Wood Anemone

Prunus serotina - up to 8 seedlings
Populus deltoides - one 4-foot seedling
Sambucus canadensis - 2, maybe 3 seedlings
Cornus sericea - 2, maybe 3 seedlings

If you haven't responded to D-mails I've sent, please do so soon!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Crestedchik, if you're out there, please check your D-mail... I need your address. Your trees are packed up & ready to go, but they're bare root & won't keep forever... Thanks!
