Garden Glory: Yes, dear they are beautiful, my daughter likes those; but I keep telling her they just wilt in this part of Florida, and she loves lavender which doesn't do well here either. My 40 some canna lily rhizomes are due in Monday and my onions are on the way. But, I am happy as a lark, it's planting time.

Here are my prize beauties inside the greenhouse where they are given a bit of protection, my maters

Yeah, I know, there are too many in one 5 gallon grow bag, the reason I got a rush order of layflat grow bags from Bob, as they are being transferred, some of them, anyways to there.

Here are the rest of the tomatoes in my 5 gallon buckets, going through the bury the stem routine as I fertilize once a week, I have not yet added the dolomite lime, nor the fertilizer until they reach the top of the 5 gallon HEB:

Looking good, Joy. I like the looks of that fence too.:-)Question for you: I got two daffodils that sprouted in one gallon pots. Will they grow OK in one gallon pots? Why do you like daffy's so much? Suppose I was to transplant these two daffy's to one of my grow poles.........would they survive?

Jay: I'm going to buy some of those deck self watering vertical grow NJ planters when I can afford to and load them all down with daffodils. I love them. I gallon pots are a little small I think for two, maybe one would be okay. My nephew came over to spend the night and we dug up half my canna beds and I divided them all, then we added peat humus and cow manure and 13-13-13 to the beds and I got them replanted, then we had to quit cause we got some rain, I hope to finish it up tomorrow. I've been a busy beaver today, planted charleston jr watermelon seeds, cantaloupe seeds, ambrosia melon seeds, snow pea seeds, henderson lima bean seeds, bush bean seeds and burgandy and green okra seeds in coconut coir seed starter kits today, still waiting on my pepper seeds to arrive, have a starter set (Bob's) waiting for it. I figure I've got it all done now and can just start transplanting when they grow big enough right into EBs. Then in April, all I gotta do is move my tomatoes outside the greenhouse and direct seed my corn.

I do have 3 peony trees coming this way and a crape myrtle and royal empress trees. Not to mention begonias and more canna lilies and ranauchus' and also more daffodils. Should stay pretty busy here shortly.

Geezzz, Joy, I'm plumb wore out just reading about your day. I have had 5 days of solid rainy weather accompanied by mostly 40 degree temps. All my outside seeded plants have suffered severely. I expect that though when I gamble and direct seed a little too soon. I think I am in the clear now though as far as frosts are concerned and will just replant as necessary. One thing about planting too early and letting the plants take the brunt of some bad weather is that you can find out which plants are the toughest. For instance.......I seeded 6 different versions of Osteospermums (African Daisy's). Only the version called " Passion Mixed" is still standing and looking strong. I have noticed that some hybridized versions of some plants can sometimes be persnickety and puny compared to the original versions.

Jay: I may be getting anxious too a bit here; but how do tomatoes and cukes hold up to a few nights at around 38 degrees when the rest of the time it is 70-80? I am so tempted to plant everything. LOL

Ok, decided to try a new experiment here. I ordered some of Bob's lay flat coconut coir bags for my excess tomatoes and leaf lettuce. Lo and behold the coir in the bags would not all soften, Bob later explained why, as it is not the same as the 5 gallon bags. So; I pulled the coir out of the lay flat bags and put it in an 18 gallon tote, adding water for the coir to absorb and soften, at the same time I swirled in 3/4 cup of dolomite lime and some epsom salts, it dissolved and was absorbed into the coir. I then replaced the coir into the lay flat bags and planted my tomatoes. Let's see what happens shall we?

Joy why would you buy the flat bags if you have to remove the coir to hydrate it. What's with these flat bags?

I remember reading where Tplant cut his flat bags open too?

Have to wonder what the intended purpose of the flat bag is?

Jerry
