Hey Debbie...I've got the Prickly Pear native to the east coast...with the pretty yellow blooms come spring.

I have one of those that I got about 35 yrs ago!! I looked at it the other day as it has been struggling where I have it. I had been planning to move it this spring out from under the sweet peas that have now grown down over it. I think one pad left, maybe two. I probably need to get a couple of more pads if you want to do that! I have really been looking for just the barrel type cacti. I received two purple cactus pads the other day...I purchased them...and they really are pretty!
How have you been? Ready for some nice weather? Rained for the last couple but sure is nice here today.
Still haven't moved to the shore house yet. With the economy, we have decided that we may sell it and atay here. It would probably be more likely to sell at a higher price than we can get here where of course as usual they grosly over build hoping for more college students/new faculty to take on!!
Take care, let me know. I am having to revamp my trade list as I have a lot of plants that I am out of or will be out of shortly.

Hey Debbie - doing well...also looking forward to spring!! I'm not sure which of the barrel type cacti is hardy. A few years back I wanted to see what I could keep alive in a cactus patch - thankfully I only lost one or two...the rest did well and flowered. This was a good thread where I listed (as did others) sites/vendors that sold a variety of cold hardy cactus...hope this helps http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/718316/ I'm happy to share some of the pads with you...sure I'll have some low growing cold hardy agave coming up as well if you don't have any of that. They get big - just not REALLY tall
