This tomato plant was inside until last weekend when she went outside. When I took it outside, the top unfortunately got damaged and removed. Yesterday I noticed the leaves had turned silvery. It's not on all of the leaves, but many close to the new 'top'.
It's not powdery mildew, because it seems like a color changed, not something on it.
Opps, I forgot the pic. I'll put it on the next post.

Not sure what happened
2busygardening I had that happen last week on EVERY plant I took outside from the greenhouse. The weather was mild, 80 but very cloudy and overcast. "Silver" leaves, almost shiny and mirror-like on every single plant. I am puzzled too. Normally sun burnt leaves are crispy and browned....Maybe someone can help us here...
My first thoughts would be too much fertilizer in the potting mix and the feeder roots for those leaves are just now reaching the hot spot or else the sun may have scalded the leaves.
Did the plant ever wilt from lack of water. The portion of root system feeding those leaves may have been damaged.

Yep, I agree with you Ray_Der_Phan....I don't think I hardened off properly to tell the truth. Thanks!
>> will it be ok?
It should be ok if you shade it and not let it burn anymore. Hopefully the new growth wasn't scolded to badly. A hour of morning sun is fine for the first week. Plants have enough trouble dealing with the wind and temps once set out. I had great luck this year hardening off my seedlings. I consider myself lucky. Here's what I did....
1st week - I put them outside shaded by the house. Maybe got 1 hour of sunlight a day. I covered them or brought them in at night.
2nd week - 3 or 4 hours of morning sunlight. Cover or bring in at night if needed.
3rd week - I either planted them or put them in full sunlight.
Oh, I was gonna put my lettuce and plants outside and let them deal with the outside all at once?

I know nothing about lettuce. I would think anything grown that was started from seed would need to be hardened off. My opinion is to do an experiment. Plant some in full sun, while the others wait in shade.
Well, what I did after reading this was put the lettuce and cukes under my patio table they were there for half the day, will do it again tomorrow but then the lettuce has to go outside period.
