Hello Everyone,

I recently got engaged and will be getting married in August. My fiance and I want to say "I Do" in Niagara Falls, but neither of us has ever been. I was hoping some of you have been and can recommend inexpensive places to stay, with a veiw of the Falls, of course:), e.t.c.

Thanks!

First of all, congratulations are in order, GrowHappy! Wishing you and your fiance all the best and many years of happiness. I have been to Niagara Falls and it was beautiful and spectacular. For the life of me, I can't remember where I stayed. Please do visit on the Canadian side. Lots to see and do. Really nice.

Shanika, you should check in on the Canadian Forum. I'll bet there are some nice folks living in Ontario that could give you some suggestions. Good luck, and Congratulations! ^_^

Congratulations!

Oh, and just so you can see . . . in the March/April 2009 issue of the AVSA mag, there is a nice article on using AV's in the bouquets . . .

Congratulations to you and your fiance. You have picked a beautiful place for a honeymoon. I was there many years ago on the Canadian side and it was beautiful. The falls are awesome.

I thought I heard the Canadian side was the best, but if you plan to go over to visit, I think you'll need a passport now, not sure when that was going into effect! Sure someone must know. Congratulations and happy days! tish

Congratulations Shanika! All the best to you both, for a long and happy future together! Have you set a date in August? It's a great month for a wedding, my husband and I are going to be celebrating 40 years on August 9th.

I've never been to Niagara Falls but have heard so much about the beauty of the falls and that area in general. My DH and I hope to vacation there someday. I agree with Don47 that you should ask over on the Canadian gardening forum: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/tradeeh/all/ I bet a lot of folks could give you some good ideas about places to stay.

I have no suggestions...never been there but would *LOVE* to...I've always been intrigued by waterfalls.

But...wanted to say congratulations...how wonderful for you!

How've you been, anyway? Haven't seen you around much on the other forums, and think about you once in a while.

Wishing you the best in your new 'adventure'!

Lin- Congrats on your long and happy 40 years! What is your secret?:) We don't have a firm date, but expect to do it sometime during the week of 08/10-08/16. We are doing a destination wedding, so it will just be the two of us. We will videotape the nuptials and give our family and friends a copy of it later. Also, we want to have a reception when we get back home to Baltimore. This will allow our family and friends to help us celebrate and allow them to be a part of it. I know some are going to be unhappy with our decision, but my take on it is that we are not doing this to make anyone else happy!

Nan- how've ya been? Everytime I look at my Thai Euphorbia, I think of you. Oh, and my Begonia 'Cracklin Rosie'. :)

Shanika,

LOL ... I don't have any secrets, sometimes I wonder how in the world my DH and I have made it so long! Our communication (or lack thereof) has sometimes made it real hard to survive married life. We both sometimes use the old saying: "Can't live with em', can't live without em'. But, with good times and bad times, I must say, the good have outweighed the bad. The only advice I would definitely give is Communicate, take time to sit down and really Listen to each other!

We had a very small wedding with just a few close family and friends present, no big fancy ceremony. I love that you are doing it your way! Many people think they need to spend a fortune on a big, fancy wedding. I know it's every gal's dream growing up, but it can really get out of hand nowadays and can be so stressful with all the planning and expenses! I can't believe how much some people spend for a wedding! In my opinion, the most important thing is the vows the two of you make to each other! As you stated, you can have the celebration with family and friends when you get back home.

... we will all be waiting for photo's of Niagara Falls and the beautiful scenery of that area ... and of course want photo's of the happy couple! Wishing you both much joy on your journey through life together!

Shanika: Your Ficus lyrata is in our bathroom, so I see it every day, and think of you, as well, wondering how you've been...and it sounds as though you're doing quite well! (Ü)

I look forward to your photos, too....and I'm SO HAPPY for you!
