What the heck is this??????

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

This man is out of his mind if he believes that anyone would think that this photo is real. It's a shame because anyone familiar with brugs would not fall for that, but it's the newbies that are being targeted and preyed upon. Those poor folks looking for a bargain of a different kind of brugmansia. You should warn your newbie friends of these types of things and tell them....there are no blue brugs..........not yet anyway. Don't let your newbie friends become victims.

I notice that this seller is located in Gretna,La.That also happens to be 7servant7's home base.Make what you will of that.

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

what a coincidence.....yeah right!

Mesa, AZ

Best way to keep people from being victimized by such fraud is to report it to ebay.

Peggy Sue's had a bit too much Irish Mist...she's hung over. Kinda green around the gills...

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

I just thought she was sad.....and feeling blue..

Dunedin, FL

What a doctored up job this picture is, do they really believe people fall for that? NO WAY!!!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Shameless!

Kansasville, WI(Zone 5a)

7servant7 now has his 'garden of angels' working for him.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I must admit befor I came to DG I would have thought that was real, after all most flowers comes in blue, being in DG is one of the best things I do.

You know, I do believe this is 7 Servant 7. What I don't understand is that he claims to be a minister. Back when he was trading seeds, I traded with him several times and found him to be fair and honest.

I just don't understand what has happened to his ethics. So sad.

Kay

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

Peggy Sue is stunning... and 7servant7 is just plain stunned.

I WISH we could get colours like that!

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Kay.....did anything good ever come from any of those seeds? Seeds coming from a man that posts the same picture for plants that are supposedly different brugs are not something i would trust. Seeds of a frosty pink cross look too similar to seeds of some gorgeous euro cross. I sure hope he was in a better frame of mind back in those days and you actually got what you traded for.

Vhere's my plents?
Ve are vaiting, dahlink...

Me thinks he's changing his name because so many have been warned of his Shenanigans under the old eBay name. Many of the plants he sold as something other than what they are will probably bloom this Spring/Summer. Need to establish a new identity, dah-link.

Mira Loma, CA(Zone 9a)

Too bad I found out to late..........I have 4 cuttings from the angel/7 guy. I hope they are what they're supposed to be!!!

Snellville, GA(Zone 8a)

Being new to Brug I also was taken by 7 Servant 7 paid big money for the cutting and they
never came up ...There still sitting here looking sad. Wish I had a camera too show ya.

Mesa, AZ

I'm sure its a large group of us who as newbies bought from him, not knowing any better. I know I did buy a few last year from him. For someone so religious, you'd think he'd realize that God will deal him the ultimate punishment. Hope he has time on his deathbed to repent!

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

that what this thread is all about. We want to educate the new people in the brug world what not to fall prey to. We have learned from our mistakes. by sharing what we know we can help others have a terrible first experience with their brugs.

Coushatta, LA

You are right Gary,i'm just learning about them and i could tell the picture is BOGUS.

Sorry,it was very rude of me to say that and i'm sorry.

Let's be clear. It's not stupid, its naive and not educated enough to know the difference between a good deal and a good con.
Even though a blue tinted brug isn't even a good con for sure.

Snellville, GA(Zone 8a)

Can someone anyone help me please...I'm pretty new to brug and i purchased these from ebay ( you know who) When they came in they were kind of dry but me not really nowing i put them in water to root..After 7 week nothing so i put them inside of a plant pot with some dirt as of today nothing. It just makes me mad when people like that one. That lies to these people just to make a buck.

Snellville, GA(Zone 8a)

What can i do to say them

Coushatta, LA

Cindy i don't know, like i said i'm just learning my self. Some one will answer your question.

cjcjmass,
When you had the cuttings in water, how often did you change the water? When rooting cuttings in water, it is best to change the water at least every few days more often if you can. Adding a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to the water helps to keep the water clean and may speed up the rooting process. If the cuttings were kept at room temperature, after 7 weeks in water, chances are the portion under water rotted. It's difficult to tell, but it looks like a bog inside the pot — the potting medium looks way too wet.

It may seem odd, but roots formed in water are not the same as those formed in soil. When rooting cuttings in potting soil, you will need to keep the soil barely moist until the cuttings put out new growth and start to grow actively. Provide extra humidity to the cutting portion above the soil. You can do this by misting frequently or covering the top with clear plastic.

When rooting cuttings in water, fill a jar with 2" - 4" of water, depending on the size of the cutting, add about 1/2 tsp hydrogen peroxide, place the cuttings in the water taking care to leave some space between the cuttings and place the jar where it will get very bright indirect light or a few minutes of very early morning sunlight. When the cuttings develop white nubs, you can move the cuttings to small individual pots. 16oz plastic cups with holes punched at the bottom are ideal. Keep the potting soil barely moist until growth starts actively. Roots will form from those white nubs. You can also allow water roots to form until they are about 1" long before potting the cutting.

I was so eager to have Orange Sunshine I bought cuttings from this "gentleman" last summer. The cuttings were not the best. They looked like they had been off the mother plant for weeks. All rotted. I recently purchased Orange Sunshine plant from a reputable DG seller. What a difference ethics makes. The plant arrived with all its leaves and buds intact.

Before bidding on Brugs listed on e-Bay, start a thread asking for information on the seller. Some DGer may have useful information on the seller for you. 7servant7 became conspicuous when he started intensifying the bloom colors.

Snellville, GA(Zone 8a)

Well i am very disappointed next time I will ask plenty of question during the process of rooting them. But I will take this as a learning experience. Can you recommeded a seller that you have used in the past.I really would like to have a few in my yard this year.

Thank you all for your help

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Just stay in the brug forum and wait until the weather gets warmer.. you will find plenty of brug growers willing to share cuttings.. it is just that most are dormant right now. Most don't have enough to share until theirs get growing again. Sorry to hear of your experience with this seller. You will also be able to find reputable sellers in the markeplace.

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

it'a hard to say even if you did anything wrong...he might have treated the cuttings so they never came up the wrong way.. like without being blue.. better to have them dead and passed.. before the question of what it was really... came up at all..
just how bad is bad..

Snellville, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks I really appreciate they advice coming from this forum.
I've been lurking and reading and i am glad that I finally decided to
ask for advice. You could only imaging how i felt when I seen 7servant7
name come up in a conversation.

i'll take a look into the marketplace and see what I can come up with.

Mesa, AZ

cjcjmass, I've got some NOID's that I've rooted, you're welcome to one of them. Send me a dmail if you are interested.

Mc Call Creek, MS

Gary, what I got in trade was about 20 different kinds of sunflower seeds, all of which came up beautifully. What he got in trade from me was just a couple of kinds, or seeds. I don't recall now what they were, but he definitely gave more than he received, and was very gracious about it.

'Could be he let that old devil, "GREED" get to him. Sometimes that's a hard one to overcome.

I've read here & on all the other plant forums over and over how he has used other people's pictures and misrepresented what he sells. Since all these comments have been from folks and know and trust, I know this is true. Like I said before, "How sad."

As all of us old timers on brugs know, many times there will be cuttings (your own or someone else's) that just refuse to root not matter what you do. Usually this happens to a green cutting in the winter.

I've never purchased a plant of any kind on e-bay, but I definitely would not buy one from anyone in the winter time. Two months makes a huge difference in your success.

Let the buyer beware.

I have to say this brings me back to when I first got hooked on brugs. I looked at all the pictures in the ABADS gallery and dreamed of having a double pink. This was around 2003 or 2004 when double whites were the only doubles in the US.

Someone posted a picture of this beautiful new pink that I would have died to have. I forget what its name was, but it was something like "Kimberley Clark's Angel" or something similar. Well, dumb me! I was so enamoured with the flower, I paid no attention to the name. I posted on Garden Web that it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever laid my eyes on and I'd die to have it...blah, blah, blah.

Was I surprised and embarrassed to find out that someone had made it out of Kleenex and put it in the gallery for a big joke. I felt like an idiot, and Spike was kind enough to remove my post for me after I explained the story to him.

It's funnier now than it was then I guess.

I think we have all had our "newbie" moments. I know I have had those when I want to go hide in the closet for a month!

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Yeah me too.....but I came out of the closet years ago......both of them!

Mesa, AZ

ROFL! Good one Gary!

Snellville, GA(Zone 8a)

Now I feel much better!!!!!!!!

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Peggy Sue is back on e-Bay again. I read what gardenofangels says in his description and no where does he claim it is a "blue" Brug. He's getting clever. He can always claim a problem with PhotoShop.
