Last fall, I plunked about 75 crocus bulbs in between the mini rose hedge and the greenhouse patio stones....
found a few of them up about an inch or so on Sunday.
Can spring really be on it's way?
Please, please......
perhaps it's their location, but I've got crocus up!

Thanks for the message of hope!
It's -25 today here.
I do hear we might be in the + on the weekend so things are looking up!

I sure do hope your spring is coming!!! Send it my way ok?
My crocuses were up and blooming over two weeks ago. Since then we've been dumped on with snow - at least three inches in less than a day which is outrageous for the Fraser Valley almost ANY time of year let alone when my peas should already be germinating. And to make matters worse, the ground has been freezing every night but thawing out to a mucky, clingy, slippery mess by mid-afternoon. This morning it was -7C at 8am; by 2pm, it was +9C. Everything has started coming up already; I'm rather concerned.
I just realized where you all are! My goodness, I must sound like a whiner with my mild zone 8 weather. But, truth be told, it's as cold as back home (southwestern ontario) used to be at this time of year.
It seems to me that this global warming is certainly wreaking havoc with the hardiness zoning! I wonder if my passionflower will make it through this year's winter?
this weekend should be good for making maple syrup. freezing overnight, and into the plusses for the daytime. that gets the sap moving!
We had a very strong wind the other day, but it did dry up the yard!
You had that wicked wind too? I get nervous with the high winds with all the trees around here. Looks like it's going to be a nice stretch of sunshine for the next few days.
Sorry about your weird weather, greenmum.
Sandy
I've got a few thousand crocuses and most of them are still under substantial snow, but the snow has receded enough that there is one crocus poking up about an inch fairly close to my house. :-)
