Originally from Virginia, gardening in Zone 11 is a new challenge! We are here from Nov to May every year, in what I call the Bahamian "outback" -- so peaceful and quiet and about 12 miles from the tourist area. It is a salt air environment with bountiful sun and wind, little to no native soil, and lots of rock/coral. We cleared the lot in Dec 07 (date of photo) and have made progress this winter on site improvements --temporary utilities, perimeter wall & fence and the dock . The cottage hasn't gone up yet, but will be started as soon as the foam block arrives! I have a little over 1 acre to work with and currently am starting with a 10' strip all around the perimeter -- and would prefer to xeiriscape (did I get that spelling right?). ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance
Greetings from a newbie on Grand Bahama Island!

Greetings arejay. Lee
Good Morning Lee.
arejay, your response was gracious and I appreciate it and it's nice to bid hello to someone but like the doofus I am, I wasn't paying attention and hailed you instead of welcoming coralbay. But anyway, it's nice to hear from you. LOL Lee
that is funny . It is nice to meet you non the less.
Robin
Robin, much of my 'confusion' is related to the fact that I only got about 2 hrs of sleep last night. I was so embarassed but you've been most gracious. Lee
It's nice to meet you, too
hello from upstate new york. don't worry about spelling because most of the people here can spell o.k. they just can't type. me, on the other hand can do both. LOL
you will love this place. make sure you visit some of the other forums. if you enjoy cooking hit the recipe forum
see you around.
p.s. if anyone tells you that i am the worst typer here just don't believe them. they are jealous.
Welcome to Dave's Garden! :-)
Herbie could you do my typing too so know one will know I cant? I can find the spell check though.
you're on
Welcome, Coral Bay. Wow!! Can you say 'blank slate?' That is sooo exciting. Sorry, I know nothing about xeriscaping or tropical gardening, but it will be fun watching this adventure unfold.
