This climbing vine blooms every spring, but usually up the neighbor's tree. This year, it's climbing over the neighbor's fence and up onto our covered workspace/carport.

Looks like Carolina Jessamine to me.

Also, could be what they call 'Swamp Yellow' Jasmine.

I didnt't know about that one. Must like a LOT of water. My Carolina Jessamine got a thorough soaking yesterday, but normally it gets fairly little water. And tolerates it pretty well.

I can guarantee you that this doesn't get any additional help from my neighbor! LOL Do you think if I took some cuttings and planted them along my back fence line that it would overtake the honeysuckle (the bad kind) and the blasted english ivy from my backyard neighbor's?!? LOL

Must tell you that I have tried to start some for myself, bringing cuttings for yrs fr New Orleans. Would not root for anything. Katrina took down my GF's fence, Swamp Jasmine & all. We got out in her backyard & stood that section back up with the Jasmine. It never missed a lick & kept on growing.
Last wk, I was out behind my shed that got an 80' oak tree across it thanks to Ike & guess what I found growing wild, on it's own! You got it!
My very own Swamp Yellow Jasmine & it was growing up another oak about 6' high.
Now, I'm beaming with pride!!!

I have rooted some at times from the new growth shoots in spring. You could try that and see if it works for you.

Sas has one in her yd w/a runner going across her yd that had rooted.
I was going to get some small ones of it but when she called today, she said her DH was mowing the front yd. I may not can find them now! Oh, well. They will grow back up again & will have more roots on them this time.

Stephanie, it is a pretty vine when it blooms. It is not a full foliage vine though and won't choke out or cover the other garbage vines that are growing freely there. A warning on this plant too, all parts of this plant are toxic and can cause paralysis or death. Not that you will be out there grazing but if you have little kiddos around...

It is a weed / wildflower of sorts and this time of year the woods are yellow with the Carolina jessamine blooms. They are lovely and fragrant and for the rest of the year, the vines are a nusiance. But I love them, they are a harbinger of spring!

I love Carolina jasmine too, I have on my fence with Crossvine.

I love this one... we have several 'patches' of it here and there on our 5-1/2 acres. It's my first sign that spring is abloom in our yard. Actually kinda wish I had more of it.. may try rooting a few cuttings. Can't hurt.

We have one planted beneath our huge oak tree, when it blooms it covers the entire tree with yellow blooms.

Wow! I bet that is wonderful.

This does usually climb up one of the neighbor's trees each spring. This is the first time I've seen it on the carport thing. If I could get to the vine, I'd take some cuttings.

I have some carolina jessamine, but I'm not crazy about it. Maybe because almost everyone in my neck of the woods has it in their yard. It is evergreen, which is a plus, but it blooms during tax season when I'm at the office all of the time, so I miss all but a few glimpses.
