A while back we got two hard freezes and my heaters in the GH could not keep up. My largest plummie got ,I guess, frost bitten. I cut back the tips yesterday and saw that the stem inside was black and no white ooze. Should I keep cutting back or just leave it alone and see what happens?? Sure and I hope it's not a gonner!
"Frost Bite"
hi ginger - cut back to white tissue. sterilize the cutting utensil between each cut or use a different part of the cutting utensil.
Thank you so much...off to the GH to wack!!
the plumie trembles in fear. LOL
Let us know how it goes :) Good luck...

I had to whack almost to the dirt in the pot. There was still a tad of black, but mostly green and the white ooze. Hopefully it will make it....after the trembling in fear stops. Poor baby.
Hello Ginger, I would cut until there is NO more black. If you leave any you run the chance of having the rot come back.
OK...I'll give it a go. Thanks
doing the happy dance!!! I cut my plummie to about 2 inches above the dirt...now I have 3 new growth nubs with teenie tiny leaves! YEAH
congrats ginger! make sure that you don't happy dance too close to the new growth. :)
LOL
Yes...when I was working for Seed Sprout and before I cut my hair when sweeping up in the morning I'd put the fallen flowers in my braid. Some days I'd go home with a dozen blooms in my hair. LOL Last summer while in laid off mode I went to visit Brenda and she allowed as how I needed a plummie of my own so I'd have flowers for my hair...she gave it to me. I was really sad when I thought it had died! With luck, by the end of summer, perhaps I'll have flowers again for the much shorter braid. Miss Singapore is a very happy camper in the heat we've had lately...only "person" who is!!
