i would like some plants that is suited for harsh winds and full sun all day thank you

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Do you know what zone you're in? The wind is also going to make things tough--container plants in the sun are going to tend to dry out very fast, and when you combine that with wind blowing all the time and drying out the leaves you're going to have even more problems so anything that needs a lot of water or has large thin thin leaves will not do well, but you can probably grow some of the typical Mediterranean type plants like lavender and rosemary, or succulents might also do well there.

Looks like you're on the French Riviera in Zone 9. Geraniums, petunias, marigolds, verbena, cosmos, will all grow in your situation. Also as ecrane says, lavender and rosemary, succulents, and I would add, most desert plants. You'll have to water twice a day in the hottest part of the season. I have to do that too. I have wind, and that's the most drying.

thank you ecran3 it's true all the plants dry out so fast it's almost as if I cannot give the plants enough water, and the wind comes in spurts ,when it comes it stays for either 1,3,6 or 9 days after I just have branches left, I then go and buy new plants and the same thing
happens over and over.
And yes Revclaus I think I do live on the French Rivera, but I am not French and I have not
been living here very long,so I have a little diffulty to communicate with the plant shops,so it's why I am so happy I discovered daves garden by mistake on the net,to get advice and learn about real gardening.and thank you for telling me that I live in zone 9 what ever that means? I am going shopping for the plants you recommended, but I dont know what
succlents are,I guess I can look in the plant forum.thanks again ecran3 and Revclaus

Keep us posted!

Succulents are things with fleshy leaves that hold water--they are very drought tolerant and since their leaves are fat and juicy the wind won't bother them as much either. I see you're a subscriber, so if you head over to the Cacti & Succulents forum you'll see a lot of threads about them.

Here's a website that will have some other plants that can stand up to tough conditions--I don't think they'll ship to France but at least you can get the names of some plants and take those to your local nurseries to see what they have www.highcountrygardens.com
