WE've made this cake twice now, both times it didn't rise .
Are red velvet cakes not suppose to be fluffy like the box cake mixes?
DD got the recipe off the internet, and it has buttermilk, whole wheat pastry flour, and all purpose flour mix and baking powder, salt, vanilla, butter, 2 eggs with the whites beaten and put into the mix. I know we made it right, but it just looks flat.
She's making this cake for a fund raiser at church tomorrow. I'd hate to donate it looking so flat LOL we're going to put all 4 layers together, and hope for the best.
Has this happened to anybody else? or is it just suppose to be this thin.
I know that the buttermilk was just out of date, which I figured was ok.
