sorry, my roses grow tall but I do have a question.. how do you root rose cuttings? I have a rose bush that is growing like a weed right now.. spring came early.. I need to cut it back and would LOVE to get some starts from it because it smells HEAVENLY!

I have never done rooted cuttings until this year. The ones I have started (not roses) are doing good. I bought 'Dip-N-Grow' and am using it. Someone recommended it on here. I have a couple of tea roses that I had for many years and they are almost gone. I am thinking about trying to start some from what little comes back from them.
One side of our new hour is hot in the am and has sandy soil. I have never tried there. Am going to put agaves, yuccas, winter hardy cacti and would like a few roses there. Would also like to add some in other places close to the foundation. Not tall beacuse I can't get up there to prune and a shruby one that blooms more than teas.
Good luck to both of us on our attempts on this new venture of "cuttings"!!!

I too have been working on Rose cuttings. I am going to root mine in a mason jar just like and indoor green house. Later in the year Ill plant the cutting and put the mason jar over it and wait. I thought I might try the crystal on one too to see what happens. Good Luck if you find an over abundance of cuttings let me know maybe I will have some to trade with you by then.

I have been rooting my mini roses with the rooting hormones and it works great. 99% have taken good root within a couple of weeks. I have done this in the spring and in the fall.
