Temps in the 70's! I'm already repotting seedlings, planting more seeds and planning on giving everyone a "wake up" feeding in the greenhouse as well as transplant more seedlings into pots.
The Dollar Tree store has some things for the garden you can actually use like 10 3'' pots for a dollar and those cell trays with lids.
Just got finished cleaning up my In-box and counted 6 trades I'm working on. This weekend I'll probably be moving the miniature roses from front to back as well as putting up a portable greenhouse to hold the tomato plants once they get moved to their final big containers. Looks like I'll be busy making tomato cages too.
What's everyone else doing and have planned for this weekend?

Wooooo Hoooooo!
Well, first, I plan to just get out there and feel the sun on my face! :)
I'm going to plant daylilies, and put a few things that are in pots in the garage outdoors..but not too far outdoors, just in case they have to come back. Got some ferns to transplant and some weeding to do. Sooo looking forward to just getting out there.
Deb
I'm just getting over being sick for a week and a half. Now DH is getting it. I hope to do some roundup of winter weeds and cut down dead foliage. I will just have to see how I feel. It makes me feel good that you are out there having a ball.... Maybe I will be soon. Have fun. Smokey
Smokey, getting out in the spring weather should make you feel better! :) Being sick is no fun. Hope you both are back to feeling good soon!
I have 160 cabbage plants and 120 broccoli plants to get into the garden from the greenhouse. Got 42 tomato plants that are nearly ready to go into the garden, yes I started them too early, and today I started egglant, peppers, summer squash, and more tomatos. We are selling at 2 farmers markets this year. Tomorrow we have 500 blueberry bushes being delivered from NJ and hopefully we will dry out enough to start planting them on Saturday. Then we have 100 logs to do for shitakke mushrooms! I'll pop back on Sunday night and let ya know what we accomplished. :)
The pic is of my hubby Don on his David Bradley tractor that he restored. The sulky is just for fun around the yard, it is a walk behind tractor that is the only kind we use.
Wow .. sounds like everyone is raring to go!
Deb, what kinds of daylilies are you planting?
Smokey, hope you feel better too .. like Deb said, just getting out will probably help.
Susan, whew! I'm exhausted just reading what you're going to do .. have you heard about the two farm bills Monsanto is pushing? They could directly affect you!

It was so nice this morning to be able to sit in the doorway of my back door drinking my morning coffee and not have to be bundled up!

60 degrees at 9 am :-)))))))
Ahhh me .. so nice to be HOT. Came in for some lunch. Gave everyone in the greenhouse their first meal of the season and transplanted bunches of poppies and other seedlings into bigger pots. My table in the gh is looking like Spring!!! I also opened all the windows in the house. Kitties are loving it!

Sounds like you had a great morning, X. I was stuck inside at work all day. :( I'm dividing some NOID yellow ones that I adore and some Hyperion. I created a new bed for the ones that needed dividing and then - of course - had to get some more to make sure it's nice and full, so I got some red, spider shaped ones.(Autumn Red), a few Happy Returns, because they're so good for me in shade, and some cheapy grab bag ones I ordered from somewhere. I splurged on a few special ones from Roycroft that I hope will arrive this week, Ruby Spider, Pale Moon Windmill, & Condilla.
Susan! Holy cow! Compared to you, I have nothing to do. :)
I did get out for brief walk this evening. Looking forward to tomorrow. Yay!
Deb
What a beautiful day we had today !! 74 degrees and I am loving every minute of it. Today I planted 4 Japanese Anemones that I purchased from a local nursery. They are so beautiful. My David Austin roses arrived (15) so you know what I'll be doing this weekend. Got the bed ready to go about a month ago so hope my rose garden turns out ok. I did this about ten years ago with Jackson Perkins roses and was greatly disappointed with the plants and the constant care. Swore I would never plant another rose bush. But-------I do love roses and just don't want to admit that I am no good at growing them.. Wish me luck !
Deb the bed will be beautiful in bloom with all that yellow and splashes of red! Luckily for me I haven't gotten too much into daylilies ... yet. Is it going to be only daylilies? or any companion plants?
BSD for my roses, their first feeding is with Bayer Advanced 3 in 1. It's good for 6 weeks and keeps the plant insect and disease free long enough to get an excellent head start on healthy growth. The timing is really good too since the first flush usually occurs after 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks I use plain old water soluble rose food after every flush. That way I don't have to worry about humming birds, bees and beneficial insects being poisoned by the flowers. I also keep a spray bottle with Orthenex mixed up and spray on demand at the first sign of blackspot though I've noticed that by giving them the Bayer for their first feeding, I rarely ever see blackspot anymore. I always water in the morning as well.

Debin , check out this daylily farm here in Conway. I have been very pleased with their plants. I purchased my Ruby Spider from her and it is beautiful. My home is Georgetown and Roycroft is a good daylily farm but a bit too high for me.

Thanks for the Bayer advise Xeramtheum, I like their products. I will be sure to get this is the am.
I just hear next Friday they are calling for 39 degrees!!!! Arrrggghhhh, I hate when we go up and down like that!
Well, 510 blueberry bushes arrived today, start planting in the morning.
Well, I was able to get out and cut down some Monkey grass today. Sat on the swing for a long time. I still don't have much energy back yet but what a glorious day.
BSD: Thanks for the link. I will check it out!! (And I agree, Roycroft was expensive, which is why I only got a few from them.
X, that bed will be daylilies only! At least this season.
What a wonderful day today! Susan, I do hope that forecast is wrong. Soooo tired of cold temps!
Me too Deb, I am ready for consistent warmth.
There is another day lily grower in Georgetown that I have heard is less expensive but I have never been there to see for myself. Not sure about the name but it might be Brown's Ferry DL's. I hope these places can stay in business; I was crushed when Waccamaw Farms closed.
Every June there is a Daylily breeder here in Lexington that has an open house on his farm. He hybridizes them and sells the seed, and then sells the parent excess plants.

They are fabulous and very inexpensive, sometimes just downright cheap!
I will be going again this year, it is usually the last weekend of May or the first weekend of June.
I do have some nice named varieties to trade, check my lists.
And today was GORGEOUS!!!
I got some plants potted, some daylilies separated to be planted tomorrow, and man, I really need to do some weeding!
I did most of my weeding during the last warm spell a week or so ago .. yesterday afternoon I dug up a bunch of stepping stone that were buried under the grass. I scored 12 of them and there is another row of 12 still buried .. I hit them with the hose to clean them off and they are still kind of brown ..I'm wondering if spraying them with some bleach water would lighten them up.
Feeling any better Smokey? I'm sore and stiff .. I have start reminding myself I'm a little old lady now and can't do EVERYTHING. Lol.

Hey X, I just can't seem to get my energy back. I was able to do a little weeding yesterday and today. My brain is doing all kinds of yard work but my body keeps going and sitting on the porch swing. LOL A little bit at a time until I get some more energy.
X: You'd be surprised what little old ladies can do! My 83 YO mother is going strong; I can't keep up with her and I'm a young 66!
Smokey: Maybe after this cold snap, you'll feel more like working in the garden. Anyhow, the weather this weekend will be a good excuse for not doing much!
I just went out on the porch thinking about doing some more weeding. Wow, it is really windy out there. I think I will pass unless the wind settles down. I have daylilies and Irises to move from the back to the front flower beds. I am doing away with the beds in the back. It is to hard to drag the hose down there to water everything. We are still in a drought and we are not supposed to use water out side for anything. Last year I kept everything alive by saving my dishwater and using it to water plants. We are due for rain again this weekend thank the Lord. We have had about as much already this year than we had all last year. I hope thing are looking up.
Happy Spring, y'all, it is a lovely day and my muscles are achin!
Pruning, planting and pushing stuff around.
It hurts so good!
Pyro: I hear you and second that emotion! Been working outside most of the day and loving it.
Me, too. Even if I didn't have chores to be done, I'd have just been out there wandering around listening to the birds and feelin' the sunshine! :)
Deb
I was busy yesterday .. planted the first wave of my veggie container garden. Three types of lettuce, spinach and carrots. I also moved a confederate rose to its final spot and noticed my sweet peas are starting to bloom .. I had such bad luck last year with them that I planted them in the fall and I have big beautiful lush plants instead of scraggly little ones. That's the trick for sweet pea in our area .. plant in the fall. The one in the picture is of Painted Lady .. the jury is still out as to whether or not I really like the fragrance. As a evanescent afterthought on an errant breeze it is kind of nice though.
Also I was horrified to find a tick attached to me this morning when I took a shower .. luckily it was still small, so it hadn't been attached for long. I did a quick search to see if Lyme disease is a problem here .. it's not ..low risk thank goodness!
X
Whoah! sorry about the picture .. I didn't mean to slap you in the face .. I forgot to resize it.
X
X: Glorious sweet pea. Mine haven't come up yet, so I'm getting worried. Not too much cool weather will be left even if they do sprout now. I sowed in Dec. with the first of my WSing, but sowed the sweet peas directly in the ground.
Angie
DebinSC---all of the original plants in my (now gone) daylilly bed came from Roycroft. What goes 'round, comes 'round...
Xerantheum---Lyme's disease may not be a "problem" in this area, but my little Corgi almost croaked from it last year, so it IS here. If you start to feel puny, make sure they run a screen for Lyme's disease. Not trying to scare you, just thought you should know...
Thanks for the heads up. I'm keeping an eagle eye out for any kind of bullseye rash.
