We just had to put down one of our kitties. He came to us after someone dumped him. He was grown, neutered and had a cat collar, but I sensed some signs that there may have been some kind of abuse in the past. Nobody in the area had a lost kitty. He was hiding under the vacant house next door most of the time but would come over to steal what catfood he could. Then he decided he wanted to be with us. Followed me around meowing pitifully, so I fed him. But the last thing we needed was another cat. At first I called him number two, because there was another stray male in the neighborhood and he was the second one who showed up. Finally I admitted he was ours, but still called him Two. My other cats had been with us a long time and my Prince decided he wasn't welcome, but Two was bigger and younger. So things didn't go smoothly among the cats, but he was home and lately they were getting along better. Then he disappeared this weekend. I didn't find him until a day later. And...he was hurt, couldn't walk. I don't know what happened, but when we took him to the vet, she said his spinal cord was injured, no feeling in the back legs. Poor baby! We agreed it would be better to have him put down. Gonna be a hole in our hearts, however.
Farewell to Two
