A Problem Solved

(Zone 7b)

I always have hated the days of frozen waterer's and i have always used coffee cups to give out the warm water i take in 4 gallon jugs to my pens.
By the time i fill up the 35 or so cups my hands are about frozen solid from spilling the water on them. So when i went to the show i saw these clips on the cages that held a small bathroom cup and thought i wish i had that. It would hold enough for a few drinks till the other water thawed or i could easily remove it and replace it for more if it refroze.
So i had seen these huge paper clips at the store and thought it would work but when i got to the isle i noticed something else.
Badge Clips the kind people put their ID cards in so i bought about 30 of them and some small cups and tried it.
They clip right to the cup then you just snap the snaps over the wire.
I will never go back to the coffee cups these not only save me outside time i also only use a fraction of the water i did and if the water refreeze's i just put in a new one.
I been useing these for about a month and i highly recommend them they are Great for Bantams,Doves and Pigeons

Isn't necessity the mother of invention! (Or as my son says, necessity is a mother.)

Great idea, I have used those clips for other things

That really is a great idea. And a cheap fix too! I like it!

(Zone 7b)

They will snap on any wire cage i use them when i transport a chickens or birds it's small and can easily be put in and removed.
It holds only a small amount of water so if they spill it's not a big mess to clean up and you can put food in them too.

That's what I was thinking too - perfect for feed and also grit!

AM I over feeding my birds or is that cup small?
I love the idea..
I know you have the pigions.. hmm why doesn't it look big enough to me?

Maybe I am just use to seeing the food on a flatter surface.. mt birds drink that much water in a minute though.

I don't get much freezing in my area and it warms up in the morning here very quickly so they have their regular waterers by noon.
Me useing milk jugs would be just a waste i can easily remove the small cups and replace them and they cost only $2 for 100 of them and a gallon of milk is $3.00 here.
We don't drink milk because of the hormones and antibiotics.
I did not say i used them for water all the time nor do i feed my animals from them either i do use them in travel cages because they are convenient.

I use the little "personal serving" ice cream cups for my pigeons. There is a pair of birds in each of my 2 hutches. They do not drink the whole cup in a day - there is always water left the next morning. Those ice cream cups are not bigger than the water cups you're using Harmony. Maybe it depends on the type of pigeon but mine sure don't drink much.

Thanks Claire my pigeons don't drink that much either and i have to dump the cups after the other water thaws.
My bantams don't even completely drink it all and you can use a bigger cup for those heavy drinkers LOL

I love the idea of the ice cream cups we get those with organic ice cream in them "Yummy" ^_^

Did I miss something?? I was really asking an honest question.. I wasn't being a smarty or anything..

I have read and reread my question and can see nothing offensive in it that called for the negitive reactions..

I am so confused here..

Fran, I don't believe it was your question...and I think as long as all our pigeons have free choice water and food, then it should not matter what size of cup or container, as long as they are not going hungry or thirsty!
