Welcome Patriotboy, I love the name! My father grew up on a small farm in Jenison, right across the street from a Reformed church . It is a community for seniors now I think. Hope you enjoy DG.

Thanks for the welcome's! As soon as I figure out what questions I might have I will be certain to ask. About my gareden: we just purchased our first home together, my wife Amy and I, and we have a lot of landscaping opportunities. I live about 3/4 of an acre and it's mostly backyard. There is a pre-existing garden which is about 60 x 100 and has full sun. This year will be trial and error just to get a feel for it. I started gardening about 4 years ago but have always been around it. I grew up down the street from my grand parents farm and my parents always had a garden of various sizes, depending on what was happing in our lives. I am going to be planting what I think are the basics, from seed: corn, carrots, bush beans, radishes, various peppers and tomatoes, some lettuce and spinach. I just bought a couple raspberry plants and a dozen asparagus plants. I already have 16 ft of concord grapes (which I have no clue how to tell which vines are 1st year or 2nd or 3rd or how to prune the right ones) and what looks like 4 rhubarb plants. Who knows what else will pop up thats in there. I also have 6 different kinds of sunflowers and a new wildflower mix. Who knows what else my wife will let me do. I know I will be on a short leash as far as time I can spend out there. But having 4 young boys will be a great opportunity for me to teach. Is that enough info? :)

I think your in for a great summer ;0) you can teach those boys a lot and you will also get to spend some very important "MAN" time with your boys always make it fun time Good luck
