I found this Begonia at the Commissary and as usual no information pertaining to the plant came with it. I love the color and the texture of the leaf and for its price , I decided to buy it and hopefully someone can help me ID it. I know it is a begonia , just doesn't know which one. Thanks for any input ..
by the way, why is my other Begonia having crusty seemed to be burned leaf around the edges? It is located on the Northwest side window and getting pretty good light but not direct sunlight. Should I move it to a more shady location?
It is a Dragon Wing
Thanks again
need help ID please
That looks like B. 'Mikado' - a rex cultivar. It loves humidity and like most rexes is also mildew prone. Going by the basket I would say that was grown at Harmony Foliage too. They do excellent work.
As for your other begonia (if it is a Dragon Wing) it would love as much light as possible. This begonia is very sun tolerant as long as you keep it from drying out and provides non-stop blooms. Fertilize it with some slow release or a weak water soluble mix. These are so available in recent years that I treat them as annuals.
thank you very much for the info. Now I know what I have and not just tell friends , "Begonia"...lol.. ok I will put the Dragon Wing next to the sunny window and see if it grows better. I havent fertilized it since I got it last year as a left over from my son's science project i dint think it will survive neglect especially it was already in a bad shape when I bought it from Walmart.
Thank you again
Eileen
