Oh ... I would love to spend just ONE day in your backyard, playing in the snow!

Is that a Boxer in your one photo? I bet the dogs do love romping in the snow!

That cold front came all the way down here to Florida. We had a low of 38 last night and it's supposed to be 35º tonight and 35/36 tomorrow night.

I have plants shoved up against the south side of the house again and covered with old blankets/comforters:

Oh Lin,I hope that works for you!

(Zone 1)

I should have uncovered them this morning but never got around to it. It's 53º out now and sunny ... but very windy, so it feels a lot colder.

I moved a bunch of plants into the unheated porch/florida room, can barely get through there to get outside:

LOL, it's worked for the most part for the 34 years we've been in this house! It usually doesn't cold for too many hours, Thank Goodness! We had three or four nights last month where it got down to the mid 20's and some of the plants did get damaged but hopefully will survive.

I left a little space where I could get through:

I have two Tibouchina's, one blooming and the other in bud. I moved them inside so they wouldn't freeze.

If I ever took a vacation to someplace with weather like that, I would have to borrow some winter clothes and boots ... or hibernate inside and just gaze at it out the window! I don't even own a coat! I am in jeans, sweat shirt and flip flops today because it's a bit chilly ^_^ for us with low 50's and wind.

Yes, that is a Downy Woodpecker. It's the smallest woodpecker found in Florida and we have them year round down this way.

Wowsers! I can't imagine driving in that! Isn't it awfully dangerous? Did you have to travel for work? My goodness ... you be careful out there gal ... so scary!

There's a bird called a Rose Breasted Grosbeak too. We don't see them here in Florida. They aren't as colorful but still a pretty little bird: http://www.northrup.org/photos/rose-breasted-grosbeak/male%20rose%20breasted%20grosbeak.htm
